I found myself agreeing with the kotaku (I think it was that one) that found the story to be rather ham fisted at some points. Like the whole thing with the dog bothered me, the game up until that point has made it clear you should be killing those dogs and it will be a problem for you if you don't, but then we get to pet the dog and play fetch with it in a kinda "oh see? Some people loved that dog and Ellie went and killed it. Wasn't that a terrible thing Ellie did? Killing someones pet is a very bad thing to do" It really did feel like the game thought so little of me that it had to insist on showing me that killing is wrong and it has consequences over and over.

@trulyalive See with spec ops it has that one big moment where it really makes you question what you've been doing throughout the whole game. The game builds up to it, whereas Last of us 2 just keeps rubbing your nose in it and insists on reminding you at every turn that Ellie is doing bad things.

@aktivity Right but if Naughty Dog wants to talk a big game about this is them trying to move games forward as an art form or whatever, it's something they should really think about. I know it's a more or less linear single player story game, but me spending 20 minutes brutally stealth killing every guard in an area because that's the one way to progress the story only to be shown a cut scene where it's made to look like this horrible senseless atrocity makes me kinda just shrug. This whole thing could make for a fantastic movie, but it just creates a sense of the actual video game stuff holding back the story.

I suppose I'll just have to see for myself, but a game that endless tells me violence is bad but gives me no options to not engage in said violence is kinda eh? I read somewhere that enemies who see you kill their comrades will cry out and act grief stricken, but that feels kinda cheap when I only killed that dude because he attacked me on sight. Honestly, for all it's faults, Pathologic does this much better because the violence IS often a choice and there are real consequences to consider. From what I've read The Last of Us 2 just makes you brutally kill tons of people than in a cut scene tells you "No no, that was a BAD thing you just did"

Gonna be honest, not thrilled about Biden's chances here. The dude can barely make it through a TV interview before his brain starts to malfunction, the debates are gonna be awful for him. And yes, Trump is prone to nonsense ramblings himself but he just isn't loosing it the way Joe is.

I'm disappointed that the controversy seems more aimed the sexuality and gender identity of the characters than the fact that Naughty Dog isn't properly paying their employees. That should be the focus here, and the studio heads SHOULD have their names dragged through the mud.

@deathstriker It's probably best not to think too hard when it comes to Euron and his teleporting fleets. I agree overall it was a decent episode but them getting ambushed and fucked up by Euron AGAIN is a little stupid.

There are probably other good examples, but Strange Journey sounds like it'd be of interest to you. They came out with that remake for the 3DS pretty recently too.

@bladeofcreation:

Nah, regardless of what Jeff thinks about RDR2, it seems like everyone one else is super psyched about it. And on top of having the name recognition, it doesn't have the same level of competition that Horizon had.
