Seems weird to me that they're going in such a different direction with this since Xiii-2 seemed to be on the right track. Oh well, hopefully they can pull it off in such a short amount of time.
I really don't see how anyone can agree with this guy, Japanese games these days tend to be completely eviscerated by the press when it comes to storytelling and characters, while western games tend to be given a free pass when it comes to that stuff.
Since the gaming community has been using that term for a while now, I don't really see why people are getting upset. That being said, "girlfriend mode" was always kind of a stupid term to begin with, so coming up with a more appropriate term certainly wouldn't be a bad thing.
I can't say I've ever had any real strong feelings about that scene either way, but I've never really understood why people give Tidus so much shit. I thought he was one of the better FF protagonists.
Personally, I think arguing semantics is pointless and is a complete and utter waste of everybody's time. Arguing about whether or not a game is actually a "video game" does nothing but add artificial limits to a medium that many people would say is currently lacking diversity.
I've never understood why people are so opposed to these types of games, If you don't like them...then just don't play them. I mean, If you're just looking for a "fun" game to play, there are quite a few to choose from.
