Top 10 Best Games of 2011

These are my Top 10 games of 2011 IN ORDER.

List items

  • My GOTY. While other began to feel the franchise was retreading old ground. I thought the story was better crafted then any other game this year. Mix that with the best graphics, writing and just general thrill of any game this year, and I am dying for more adventure with Nathan Drake and the gang.

  • It outdoes the original in every way, also "I'm Batman"

  • A game that took me completely by surprise and incredibly well realized world engaging story and legitimately fun and diverse game mechanics. The bosses weren't exceptional but most of the game was.

  • The setting was wonderfully realized, the much touted facial performance where impressive if not always subtle. But the story was engaging and unlike anything else on the market.

  • It's Portal but more so. Wheatley knocked it out of the park, outdoing Glados at least in my opinion on every level. The co-op with a friend was as fun as it was frustrating.

  • No one game should be this awesome/ridiculous/self-aware/ or legitimately funny. You should really play Saints Row 3

  • Oblivion was an incredibly engaging world, Skyrim is even more-so. Skyrim encapsulates everything I love about Bethesda games, freedom to the nth degree. None of the quests were particularly awesome and the combat continues to be a bore, but man that world.

  • Fun with friends, highly addictive customizable mechs and a cool Double Fine spirited campaign.

  • The first fighting game in the recent fighting game revival that struck a cord. Incredible and surprisingly awesome story and highly competitive and who can forget those amazing Fatality's.

  • I'm dead serious. Don't judge me. This is a game that appealed to my inner youth, a youth I spent addictively catching, trading or just collecting. It doesn't hurt that Skylanders also happens to be a pretty damn good game that incredibly works on every level, even if at the core is a very insidious marketing ploy.
