The Monkey Island games. I liked pirates as most eight year olds do, so I still enjoyed the game. But I didn't get most of the absurdist humor of that series until much later. And because Ron Gilbert is a sadist, the puzzles were fiendishly difficult and obtuse for me at the time.

Nope. I played every game in the series and so far, my favorite is Bloodborne. My favorite thing about the series is their world design and Lovecraftian environments, something that was done best in Bloodborne.

But now who will tell us if there's a problem there?!

I don't give to Kickstarters and I doubt I'll give to a Fig, but god I'm looking forward to this. Psychonauts is right up there with Portal 2 in terms of games that are capable of making me laugh out loud.

Probably not a coincidence that Eric Wolpaw had a hand in writing both of them. I'm really glad they got him away from writing DOTA 2 tooltips or whatever Valve does these days for this.

Management felt that his work was not satisfactory,

What? WHAT?! Destiny's music & audio were two of the few things that were spot on when the game launched. Either they changed Marty's work in the last few months before release or (more likely) fired him for the other mentioned reasons & still ended up using his good work.

Nothing about these events paint Activision & Bungie in a good light. I like Destiny (an unfortunate, necessary disclaimer) but man, Bungie's current work culture and public interactions seem quite different from the Halo days. Makes me wonder how the whole 343 split went and how it affected the core of both companies.

@scotto: Blizzard will likely not reinvent anything ever again. Most their talent that was known for breaking ground and making amazing new games with new ideas has moved on. Now they just refine the same thing into a casual, easy to pick up experience.

Look at their past few years. They are mainly focused on following the "hot game style" of the moment. Card games got bigger and bigger, so here comes Hearthstone. Oh man MOBA's are now the most played game type ever? Have Heroes of the Storm. Blizzards first new IP in 10+ years? A Team Fortress 2 re-imagining

The Blizzard that put their name on the map with fancy new ideas has moved on from this world. A lot of people like the style and simplicity of their games, so that audience is happy. But if you are looking for the next new big thing, some other developer is going to be putting that game out.

What are you on about?

Blizzard has always been about refining existing ideas into 'easy to pick up experiences'. Starcraft drew heavily from Total Annihilation. Diablo was developed by Schaefer's company, before Blizzard picked it up and later on refined the ARPG concept in D2. It wasn't an original idea. World of Warcraft was a refinement of the Everquest model. You can draw similar parallels to almost any Blizzard game.

That's what they did in the past, and that's still what they are doing with Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone and Overwatch. It can be argued that they aren't as effective at it as in the past, but don't make the grand argument that somehow they have lost their way and will never reinvent anything ever again.

It's so easy forgetting about all the good points Brad made about Destiny when you disagree with what he's saying. Sometimes I wonder if I'm in a giant bomb thread or on a Fox News set.

It's the same shit every year since I was cast in the role of GOTY heel. Just a ton of confirmation bias, selective omission, bellyaching and good old snark from people who want to blame someone for picks they don't agree with, even though the same scenarios apply to most other people on staff at one point or another (as pointed out several times in the thread).

I've always wondered if you guys read forum threads like these, which are full of snarky and in some cases: outright hateful comments. They can get very ugly so I hoped you didn't. :(

Regarding the arguments you made, I agree with some here that you could've made a much stronger case for Destiny. You mentioned that its combat is good but you never really got into the reasons for it and how it informs your enjoyment of the game. And I say that as a Destiny apologist myself. Personally, I always enjoyed the combat puzzle nature of the Halo games and Destiny felt just like that, but with even more challenges and possible solutions. I would've liked to hear more about why you enjoyed the game so much. And talk more about the game's strengths rather than just try to deflect arguments about its weaknesses.

Anyway, it made for an entertaining listen and I hope threads like these don't deter you guys from having such passionate arguments in the future. I don't want you guys to just agree with each other meekly. This isn't Cspan damn it! It's GB's GOTY - blood must be spilled!

I am looking for some information on how the game runs on mid-range PCs, with specs around the official "Recommended" range? I have an i7-4k series with a Geforce 760 (which is fairly close to the 660 they recommend); so while I'm sure I would be able to run it, I don't know how well. 1080p with 45-50fps on mid-settings is what I would be happy with but I don't know if my specs can pull that off.

I have a PS4 as well so I'm not sure which platform to go for. Thanks in advance for any help duders!
