In the interest of timelines: 1st tweet (Oct 25 - I didn't know about); Bombcast (Oct 26) has the survey mentioned; The thank you tweet I linked (Oct 27 - Also says survey closing tomorrow [The 28th] but only found after looking for any other mention); The Sony State of Play (Oct 27) mentioned at beginning and end. Elsewhere maybe? dwerkmd says there was a Discord post about it.

@gyratyne@eccentrix Glad it was of use!

@fugoy And of the GB audience, what percentage use Twitter? On it, don't use it. Reddit? Why am I going to an outside site for site news? Instagram? On it, don't use it. Facebook? On it, see comment about Reddit. Discord? Myspace? Twitch? By using only a single point of social media to communicate that there is a survey up and ZERO mention on the main page or even the forums, that guarantees it is limited who it will reach when the entire point of the survey is to reach as much of the GB audience as possible. Even then, it will probably be a low percentage of folks who will complete the survey. At a minimum, it should of at least gone out to all duders who signed up for the newsletter.

One thing that I hope @jerf and @rorie can use is the info gleaned from this thread on how to do it better next time. Obviously, people who look in the forums and respond is a niche of a niche. But I have 2 response that they never saw/knew of it (Even though 1 of them use Twitter to keep up on GB news), a response that this thread was a nice reminder, a response that the tweets worked, a response that they heard about it from the Sony State of Play video, and a response that they saw a Discord notification. And 2nd, run the survey for at least a week. 3 days in the middle of the work week makes it far easier to set aside and think you will get to it later.

Personally, I did look all over the main page to see if there was any mention. I looked in the forums to see if there was any mention. Checked the Words section to see if there was any mention. Failing to find anything on the site, I looked on GB's Twitter for anything and found the thank you tweet which had a link to the survey page. After posting about the survey here on the forums, I even checked GB's Instagram to see if there was anything.

So, where did you hear about it?

I finally got to listen to this week's Bombcast where the crew mentioned a few times. Afterwords, checked the main page and didn't see any mention of it. Nothing in the forums, so made a thread. I guess info about it might of gone out on Twitter? And if that is the only place . . . kind of limiting who will see it. And from the tweet, it is closing tomorrow.

Thank you for the name, @brian_. Looked Mr. Haberkorn up on Wikipedia and unsurprisingly there is also a wiki page for VoC which then allowed me to look up the JAP narrator, Hiroki Yasumoto. Safe to say that they are both well known Anime/Video Games voice actors. Or at the least, you'd recognize some of the roles they covered.

Due to being an anime sub watcher, nothing on the Anime side for Mr. Haberkorn. Plenty for Mr. Yasumoto. For Video Games, it's not till Destiny 2: Forsaken (Drifter) and Genshin Impact (Razor) where I would say I know the voice of that character. And they are distinct characters that have a personality that is being spoken. Which makes it feel that the ENG Narrator is far more lifeless in the demo, but I'm also willing to give the demo a playthrough with Mr. Haberkorn. Might be I just enjoy the tone of the JAP narrator without comprehending what is being said.

Kind of feel that @slax and @bisonhero have nailed all the +s and -s that I had while I went through the demo. Okay aesthetics making the game feel slow but this would all tie together nicely if this was back in the NES era of Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior. As it stands right now, I will wait for the reviews to let me know if this is just a classic JRPG or is this actually a classic JRPG train that has been hijacked by the Yoko Taro Gang.

But as for something that I think needs more discussion: The Narrator. More specifically, did you stick to the English voice actor, the Japanese voice actor or did you try both? I played through the demo with the JP narrator and liked the serious and bass-y voice they chose. Absolutely no idea if it's word-for-word accurate, but I like the tone it gives the demo. Started up again with the ENG narrator and went through the Queen's audience. Hoo-boy... felt like random guy pulled of the street. Far less interesting to listen to for me. Obviously, I didn't play through the entire demo again with the ENG narrator, but just the Queen's audience section felt very limping along.

Re: Title of the article.

Ah, I presume that I correctly see what you did there. Well played, ZP.

How does the soundtrack stand-up to the other Mitsuda tracks of the SNES/PS1/PS2 era?

Some recency bias, but The Room series if you would like something more puzzle-ly. I found #1 to still be a wonderful bite-sized experience either in 1 sitting or in 1/2 chapter chunks. About 2 hours to get through for each game. #2 is more of the same with a touch more multiple interaction sites in the room.

Anything in particular done to it?

I figure I'll soon just get a bucket, some warm water and a light soap and mostly just soak mine.

@bigsocrates - Just how long / what does it take to level a character? Asking as I have no idea. Are we talking about a pure XP grind, level 1 to max level? Reclaim the Tier bell from the Big Baddie every 10 levels to ring in a Tier increase? Make certain you ransack/collect the correct Rainbow Crystals or no Tier increase? Obviously presumes an experienced and knowledgeable player, but I would bet it wouldn't be too far off for a new player.

Only going on 2nd hand info, but after hearing Greg Miller during a KFGD news segment over this news, this seems like something the entirety of the active player community will react with 'WTF?! FIXES NOTHING' and will alienate what player base they have. And with the recent fire of the Anthem Next news...

I just can't believe that they added permadeath to Ben's career at Giant Bomb.

That is such a great line! My hat is off to you, good sir.

Not going to be able to watch it till after work, but I'm thinking 12 minutes of Rogue. That's not the length of the video, but the length of the gameplay. Highly optimistic, considering the previous 13 data points, in my opinion.
