Games of the Year 2018

List items

  • I've had my time with Monster Hunter before (MH4: Ultimate), but this one is a much welcomed addition. Played it so much around the release and always want to go back to it and see whats going on. Good mechanics, good co-op just a damn right good feeling game especially the first time ruining Nergigante.

  • I've never played the previous games as I never was interested in that style game, this one though is just awesome. The world they have built up and the mythology that I'm not well versed on but they use and hack about for the story seemed pretty darn neat.

  • I haven't touched a Call of Duty game in a while and played it religiously since about Modern Warfare 3, this one brought me back to it and I loved every moment of it. So much so that I prestiged twice.

The player abilities and the general way it feels on PC, just too good.

  • Tactical, thought provoking and tense.

Making the decision to sacrifice a mech to stop a building going down and desperately trying to find a sick move that'll prevent both options. The sad realisation that no action will save everything...

  • So good, end.

  • It had some issues to start out with and felt a little empty. But now it feels like it has some things going for it and I hope that it continues to make changes. Certainly one I'd recommend with a group or if you are one of those folk that can chat to anyone.

  • This game is pretty solid, in terms of gameplay and then the story. Not the typical story that everyone knows a game I played till I found everything, swinging has never been such fun.

  • Cars are beautiful and fast. Environment is real crisp too.

  • This game is amazing, don't discount where it is on my list. The events they show unfolding on Obra Dinn are amazing and the way it gets you to look and find out stuff and mark out who got ripped in half, shot, stabbed and what ever messed up way happens on that boat.

It's marvellous, the visual design and the music that also accompanies it.

  • Really had me going for a while, was so in on the story but at some point the game started to rub me the wrong way. The controls can feel a bit clumsy, story at points was so predictable I got to about chapter 5/6 and just wanted to see it out.

There is no denying that the games world is amazing, the level of detail into everything is just amazing. I just felt the way to get around that world was a slog with no other option.

  • Honorable Mentions!

The reason why this didn't hit my list is because I feel like Hitman 2 is much a like Hitman 1, which isn't a bad thing as I loved Hitman 2016, the issue I take with it is the questionable running on the PC with crashes (not me, but other people generally) and also the fact that the new maps apart from Miami are somewhat forgettable.

I've however have still put many hours into it and still have stuff to see, so this could change but it won't in 2018.

  • Honorable Mentions!

I feel like this game is becoming my Dota 2 equivalent, now that may be a bit puzzling for me to say but, this game can make you feel so good when it all goes to plan or if in general dumb stuff can happen and heck you still lose.

But there is also issues of matchmaking where I feel like me and the group (generally always play as 4 or 5) get put up in a match that is completely unfair with people that have put way too much time into it compared to us.

Sometimes this mean it's a real good match and it's a GGWP but also give us people that are ruthless and just purely mock you for the entire gametime.
