Activision will use $3.6 billion of cash stored outside the U.S. to finance the deal, a move that will help save about $1 billion in taxes the company would have had to pay to repatriate the money, according to tax consultant Robert Willens.

This should be fucking illegal.

Any amount of money over a billion is just ludicrous. Deals like this make me feel like money is broken.

I'm surprised at how many people are so positive on preordering. I honestly have spoiled on the whole idea. I think "preorder culture" is one of the biggest aspects of gaming that needs to be pushed back. It's how we get broken games, and day one dlc, and season passes, and a bunch of bullshit.

The last game I preordered was Destiny because it was Bungie and I loved the alpha and beta and thought it was going to be incredible. Long story short it's the last game I'm probably ever going to preorder.

Destiny quickly and aggressively became my least favorite game of all time.

@yummylee: I just re-read your post and I may have misread. I read it as you asking me if I was going to give it a free pass since it's Uncharted but I now see that you could have meant that I was going to pass on buying it.

Uncharted 4 is one of the games I was going to for sure buy. I love the series, I love Naughty Dog, they have made some of my favorite games of all time, but I'm not going to buy Uncharted 4 since it has micro transactions. It's a full retail release. It's indecent to ask for more from your fans. That's a huge bummer for me.

I'll still play it but I'm either buying used or renting. Shit.

@spraynardtatum: they're not (and can't) force anyone to buy anything. I don't see how this is taking advantage of people (at least those smart enough to take a minute to be aware of what they're getting into).

They can't force but they sure can tempt. They sure as hell can be the little devil on your shoulder telling you "it's not that much money (on top of all the money you've already spent) you dumb guardian peasant and besides, you fucking love Destiny". Sometimes that's all someone needs to purchase something they had no intention of buying. And you admitted yourself that you have to be smart enough to know what you're getting into to not jump on something like this. I personally don't think dumb people deserve to be taken advantage of.

Destiny is a $60-$140 game. A game that did and still does supremely well. Bungie asking for any money for a stupid holiday bonus map is taking advantage of their playerbase. Exploiting uninformed fans that merely want to look cool. But don't worry, they also know exactly how to price it and to make it available for things to randomly drop so that enough people can wager that it's not that big of a deal.

It's a full retail game that sold millions at a price point that was muuuuuch too high to begin with for how unfinished it was. Also, I reaaally can't get behind promoting gambling for valueless bullshit.

fucking micro transactions in everything...

I take it then you'll be giving Uncharted 4 a pass alongside Tomb Raider?

Nope! Why would you guess that?
