Deathnote Manga Box Set + Alpha Protocol is awesome

MAIL TIME - BLOG TIME

Yep, I'm still doing that crazy manga collecting. No new games to buy at the moment so I decided to get the complete box set for Deathnote.  It's cheaper that way and now I have 13 volumes to read. Yay for me~  Pretty sure the last volume is just an interpretation of events that happened in the series.
The box looks nice but I'm too lazy to take a bunch of pictures from all sides.
Guess I should go through WHICH manga I have been collecting so far.  There are so many I want but it's going to take FOREVER haha.  Well that's ok.

Fairy Tail (1-5)
Genshiken (1-3)
Deathnote (1-12) - complete!
What a Wonderful World (1-2) - complete!
Solanin (1-2) - complete!

I believe Genshiken goes to volume 9 and Fairy Tail goes to FOREVER ... or something.

Anyway just a quick thing on Alpha Protocol.  YO THIS GAME IS GEWD.  All the negative things about the game is probably true but I still think the game is definitely worth playing. In fact, I'm doing a second playthrough to see all the changes.  Tons of minor things change based on what you do in missions or tell people in conversations.  It's really noticeable when compared to Mass Effect or Dragon's Age.  One reason might be because the game is a little short so you see things change a lot sooner.

Start of a Manga Collection?

Guess I could only do this in blog form but whatever.

Been having the thoughts of starting to buy manga for quite some time and it FINALLY happened.
Granted I started small and only got two but it's still something at least.
Gotta say, it's very different from reading off the computer screens and the books look really nice.
I started so now it's FULL SPEED AHEAD.  I do plan to get the series I have already been reading but hopefully I could find new ones along the way.
Solanin was one of the ones i bought that I never read and it was a very good. Here's hoping I could find many more new ones along the way that interest me.
Fairy Tail was the other which was one I am currently reading online anyway.  First volume is still amazing the second time around.
Little by little ...

I'm going to buy an RTS game this year?

It's hard to believe I'm considering several games from the RTS genre when i don't really like those kind of games.  There was one that I was into and that was Warcraft 3.

The only game to ever trick me into thinking RTS games were like RPGs in a way.  Collecting loot for your hero while gaining levels to improve your stats and unlock new skills ... were all something I enjoyed very much. I never finished Reign of Chaos and I never even started Frozen Throne but I did get far enough to have said, YEAH RTS GAMES ARE AWESOME.  I then realized Warcraft III had mods you could play online that made the RTS aspect seem dull.  I ended up just playing games that focused more on the RPG elements.

So what makes me want to go back to playing RTS games now?  There are a couple of reasons that I'm not even sure of.  These could be hit or miss at this point.  A total of three games sit on my mind for future must buy titles.

One of these is End War.  I'll admit i don't know much about this title but the whole idea of controlling units with voice commands sounds a whole lot more accessible than the mouse/keyboard or controller setup.  I've also read that it's a persistent battle thats going on like the one found in Chromehounds and if that's true, this could turn out to be an amazing game for sure.  I'm a bit of an MMO junkie so I like to be able to capture territories and such rather than just finishing a match after 30 minutes, going back to a menu and selecting a new one.

Then there's Battleforge, the game that promises to bring RTS and Magic the Gathering type gameplay together.  I've enjoyed playing MTG for a bit and other various card games as well.  So the idea of having that addictive card collecting game mixed with an RTS to see your units come into play visually sounds enticing.

Lastly there's Dawn of War II.  I didn't play the first one nor did I care to even try.  However the new one sounds more like what i enjoyed about Warcraft III and then taking out what i disliked most.  Having to build bases to create units is so meh?  I'm not a fan of trying to figure out what every single base does, it's too time consuming getting to the point where you finally know what everything does. I'll admit it's awesome once you do but yeah, just too much boredom on the way there.

The whole idea of just focusing on the importance of your units and the strategy you're going to employ to win the victory sounds a whole lot more of what i would be into.  Of course the rpg elements are one of the most exciting parts.  Bring on the loot / customization !

So those are the three I'm looking at right now.  Could one of these get me back into the RTS scene?  Who knows but the fact that THREE are on my mind probably says something about the way RTS games are evolving ... or devolving to appeal to me - ha!
