I really don't care about my membership. I paid for a year only to support you guys. If I don't get the rest of the year or something else happens I honestly don't care. It's money spent. A donation if you will.
What I'm really concerned about is gamespot. I don't know if they're corrupt etc. and I don't care. I stopped visiting their website for the same reason I don't watch bad movies. I don't want to support shitty things.
I stopped going to gamespot and ign years and years and years ago because they are terrible websites (long before Jeff got fired and not because I think they are corrupt or anything - too many adds, terrible coverage, boring). I have purposefully avoided them because I did not want to support them in any way. Now I'm forced to abandon GiantBomb, a site I love, or support gamespot/CBS.
Also, I am aware that IGN and Gamespot are not the same.
Hey, this has me worried. I've seen others sites get purchased and become
pretty crappy. What makes this different?
It's a valid concern. But if you've made it this far (let's be honest, some of you have been supportive of us for years) you know that beyond the logos on our sites are a group of people who have committed their lives to building a better Internet. Our sites will continue to thrive because quite honestly, it's what keeps a lot of us going every day. And as hokey as it may sound, we want to continue having an audience that trusts us as stewards of our respective expertise.
Continue to keep us on our toes. Now let's start building
Not very reassuring. Is there some kind of agreement that says gamespot/CBS will have no editorial influence? If so, you should've said that not just "we're good guys. Come on!"
