Doom Eternal is tough, but still very fun. Also, Animal Crossing is a good way to start the day! Getting my new house in AC tomorrow.

Games I Finished in 2022

After a long, long... LONG while, I decided to hunker down and actually play as many games as I could in 2022. And, it worked! I finished 49 games in the year. Some long, some short, some old, some new. All fun and interesting in their own right.

So, here are the games I finished in 2022:

(And when I say "finished" I mean I saw the credits. No 100%-ing or anything like that.)

List items

  • (Played on Xbox)

A cool puzzle/platformer. Starts off light, but gets brain-bending by the end. And what an ending it is!

  • (Played on Xbox)

Cool pixelart game about, well, unpacking! Figure out where to put everything after you've moved house. Tells a quaint story through its gameplay.

  • (Played on Xbox)

Nothing like a "walking simulator" to tell a fantastic story. Very cool, but also heartfelt.

  • (Played on Xbox)

Another interesting take on puzzle gameplay. Visuals were stunning!

  • (Played on Switch)

Unfortunately, this one didn't leave much of a lasting impression on me. Flying was cool, though...

  • (Played on Switch)

Cause mischief as a wily goose!

  • (Played on Xbox)

You're a crow that has to reap souls, and then defy Death itself.

  • (Played on PS4)

Since the followup was about to release, I figured it was high time to finish this bad boy. Fighting robot dinosaurs never gets old, and the story was really cool and had an interesting twist!

  • (Played on Switch)

Maybe it was because I was late to the party, but I didn't get the hype for this game... at least the music was cool!

  • (Played on Switch)

Fun puzzle game mashup of the two best puzzle game types!

  • (Played on PS4)

Continuing the story of Aloy and her journey. Really cool settings, stunning visuals (even on PS4), and more added to the story and lore of the world. The wait for 3 will be hard!

  • (Played on Switch)

This included the Bowser's Fury addition. What can I say? It's Mario, and Mario rarely disappoints!

  • (Played on Switch)

Kirby's first true 3D outing left me wanting so much more! Hope we get another like this, and soon...

  • (Played on Xbox)

An original story and great characterizations of the team made this a joy to play! The mechanics worked quite well to command the Guardians in and out of combat. Would love a sequel!

  • (Played on PS4)

I'm a sucker of the Borderlands franchise, and this preview of the full Tiny Tina game left me craving more!

  • (Played on Switch)

I loved the original Blaster Mater on NES, and this fresh take on the game really brought it into the modern day well!

  • (Played on Xbox)

The cute fox Zelda-like game turned out to have much more depth than it had any right to have! Especially loved the in-game manual to explain thing to you. Also, thank goodness for god mode! Those bosses are nuts...

  • (Played on Switch)

More Blaster Master updated for modern sensibilities. The story really takes you places!

  • (Played on PS4)

The D&D aesthetic was both silly and a welcome change to the Borderlands formula. Fun, and not too taxing!

  • (Played on Switch)

The conclusion to the Blaster Master Zero saga ramped up the awesome and gave you the satisfying conclusion you deserved!

  • (Played on Xbox)

A silly little game about a turnip who won't pay his taxes. It... goes places...

  • (Played on Switch)

A fun Breath of the Wild clone. Not wildly difficult, but has its charm!

  • (Played on Switch)

Captain Toad was a delightful and clever puzzler. Can't recommend it enough!

  • (Played on Switch)

Like Duke Nukem, but with a tough lady instead! Good nostalgia trip.

  • (Played on Switch)

It's the AVGN game, what more is there to say?!?

  • (Played on Switch)

It's the second AVGN game! ASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!

  • (Played on PS4)

I needed to catch up before Village came out, so I did! Creepy and gross. The first-person view did wonders to make it even scarier! Great game.

  • (Played on PS4)

More of Ethan Winters' trials. Not a scary as the previous game, but still suspenseful and a cool story. Wild ending, too!

  • (Played on Switch)

Fun throwback-style game. Challenging boss battles and neat environments to explore!

  • (Played on Xbox)

A great tribute to the old arcade beat-em-ups of the 90s! Could play this all day, especially with buddies!

  • (Played on Switch)

Games aren't supposed to make you cry, right... right??

  • (Played on Switch)

Old school platformer with Metroidvania trappings. Solid control, great boss battles, and fun exploration and discovery.

  • (Played on Xbox)

Interesting take on Fallout with the online component. Just finished the main "storyline", though, and then dumped it. Like the setting, though...

  • (Played on Switch)

Fun XCOM-like gameplay kept me hooked the whole way through! Now, just need to play the sequel...

  • (Played on Switch)

Cool Zelda-like gameplay. Story was interesting, if a bit confusing. Art was gorgeous.

  • (Played on Switch)

Technically, this should be "Timberman: The Big Adventure" but could find a listing for that one... still, fun platformer, if a bit short!

  • (Played on Switch)

Another in the "Don't Make Me Cry Please" category...

  • (Played on Switch)

The "Reroll" rerelease of KD is just as fun as the original! Roll up everything you can to create new stars and planets; always a load of joy!!

  • (Played on Switch)

Played as Fox McCloud the entire time and had a great time blasting enemies. Pretty good for a game made to try and sell toys!

  • (Played on Switch)

Don't think the "smoosh genres together" gameplay worked out quite as well as the devs hoped. Still, and interesting time...

  • (Played on PS4)

Dad of Boy 2 was everything I wanted in a AAA game. It delivered on every front, and gave us one of the best games of 2022, and possibly one of the best ever.

  • (Played on Switch)

    (Played Violet version)

Despite all of its faults, I enjoyed the heck out of Game Freak's first open-world Pokémon game! Just gotta complete that PokeDex...

  • (played on Xbox)

Simple to start, hard to master, even harder to put down!

  • (Played on Switch)

Cutesy bullet hell shooter. Voice acting was pretty funny, but not much else stood out...

  • (Played on Xbox)

Yes, I'm a Brony. Yes, I wish we'd have gotten a G4 Pony game instead. This one was a little light on content, but wasn't hard and was obviously skewed for younger audiences. Still, a pleasant time!

  • (Played on Switch)

Wanted to get through the first two before tackling three, so gotta start with the original! Still as fun and stylish as ever, Bayo is always a delight to play. Now, if only I could find a copy of 2 easily...

  • (Played on Switch)

An easygoing platformer. Not too much to say except Yoshi is cute and so are his games.

  • (Played on Xbox)

If you like the irreverent humor of Justin Roiland, you'll like this game. If not, well, at least give it a chance. Weird doesn't even begin to describe it...

  • (Played on SNES)

I played the All-Stars version of SMB3, because I like the updated visuals a whole lot. Still my favorite Mario, and still great to beat even all this time later! Nothing better to round out the year with than Mario.
