@DefaultProphet: Well, to each their own, certainly. Lots of people are excited for the new direction of the series, but I think its crap. Pity for me, but its not like there aren't dozens of great games out every year regardless.
I was pretty cheesed when I made the original post a few weeks back, but it really doesn't matter much. I would have much preferred a game more in keeping with the tone and setting of previous games, but looks like I'm not their market anymore.
Japanese developers need to be chasin' that dollar to stay in business. So they'll all clumsily ape CoD, and it will (if the recent past has taught us anything about Japanese developers trying to capture western audiences by pandering to what western devs have done) go badly for them.
Is there a good schedule of keynotes and major demos out there? I'm trying to figure out if I need to skip work on Monday or not (between PST/EST conversions and my nightshift schedule I could really use a good time table of events)
So I'm enjoying the game. Trying to at least. Love the setting, enjoy the concept, even if the game seems uncertain when truth or doubt should mean "You're not telling me everything and I need you to spill it".
But here I am in the first Vice case, chasing a delivery truck, and I'm just about to put the disc back in the box and call it. When I turn my system back on (if I do) I will be trying this stupid chase for the fifth time. - first try: delivery truck humped up on a car, I dart around to cut him off, pedestrian dive under my wheels and the truck magically accelerates away , I reload. - second try: end up losing truck on minimap due to terrible convertible handling, but catch up to a bunch of cop cars - game freezes as it looks like its about to go into a cutscene - hard freeze, have to turn of console. - third try: car refuses to turn at speed on two corners in a row, I get trapped in a gas station with a cement railing in my way - truck escapes. - forth try: struck by debris, car barrels straight through a "T" intersection and crashes, suspect escaped - GAME FREEZES on message.
This is not the first car chase I've had to do more than twice for crashes. Am I alone with these problems, or did this game sneak through cert?
All this after the last homicide case with the stupid climbing/maze/balance beam BS. Really killing my flow with the game.
360, not installed. Console gives me no troubles with other games.
So, does CDProjeckt or Steam wanna send me some money to pay my overage to my shitty Canadian ISP? Downloading the game in the first place probably took me to the limit with normal surfing.
I was annoyed by the little grunt noises the NPC make when you talk to them...
Just a side note, but before Skyrim was announced there was quite a population of posters on the Bethesda forums who wanted the next Elder Scrolls game to use the same 'npc grunts, text appears' gimmick. That bothered me to no end, hence this post, months later on a different board.
Shame about the game though, the QL had piqued my interest. Sounds like serious software problems, maybe a patch will set it to rights, either way I'll be holding off until I hear better news.
