2011 Most Anticipated Games

In no real order, but one game outranks them all.

This is shaping up to be one hell of a year.  I'm sure I'm neglecting several, but these are the games I came up with over a G&T after a long night's work.

I wish I could put the new Ace Combat game on this list, but I don't like the direction they seem to be swinging the game in.  Time will tell.

Yo, and where is a new Rainbow Six game anyways?

Looking at this list, I'm anticipating the PC version where applicable with the exception of ME3 (import saves), Batman:AC (not sure why but it just seems like an Xbox game to me).  Brink seems like a PC game to me, but if my Live friends are into it, I might go console.

List items

  • Number one in the hood, G. I don't really need to say anything here.

  • This game was released just before I got around to writing this list, and I've put 13 hours into it so far. Really enjoying. Not everything is ideal, but then DA:O was riddled with shortcomings and questionable design choices and I loved it greatly. Hard to make a game this big, for a wide audience, and not make compromises. Started as a male mage with a sarcastic detatchment, will follow with a female swordy with a stern personality and no love of mages.

  • Loved the original and this follow up looks straight badass. As I write this a release date of August 23rd was confirmed. Good timing I think, not sure of hand if there are any other August releases I will be anticipating.

  • Frankly, I'm not sure I'm hardcore enough for this. But I know my brother is picking it up and I'll have to give it the good ol' collage try.

  • Already released, but it was one of my big 2011 titles. I don't play online or drill complex combos, I just like to play the characters I like against my brother. My win ratio has gone from .5 to something like .2 since he started getting serious into tutorial videos and guides. Oh well. Thor rules.

  • They say Q4 2011. I don't believe them. Graphics look incredible, if the MP can keep the excellence of BF:BC2:V on the larger scale of BF2, then I will be most impressed and entertained.

  • I'm in a hype black-out for this title. Day one purchase, but I'm covering my ears and going 'na-na-nah' none the less. Rockstar stimulates my pleasure centre reliably. I have complete faith that my socks are going to be knocked off, and do not need a carefully managed hype campaign or leaks to sell me.

  • Another Q4 game which I will believe when I see. January or February ring truer to me, but I'm including it on this list as a reflection of my interest, not so much my certainty of a 2011 release.

  • Come at me, brah. My love for the GoW series may be slightly twinged with irony and love of campy machismo, but it is love none the less. Can't wait to see some peaks at the campaign, if the MP looks this good...

  • Could rule or suck. Hard to say. Look forward to finding out.

  • Another game in which I have sufficient faith in to ignore most of the hype. Let the surprises and understanding of new gameplay unfold naturally.

  • Asylum was probably the best comics licenses game ever. Will they raise the ante? Signs point to yes.
