I've been a subscriber since it was an option. This news sucks. I really liked Jason and Jess. I also still really like the current crew. I've cancelled my subscription for the first time ever, but it's good through October. I'll continue to listen to my premium feed of the podcast, but after that, who knows?

Hard to believe this site's been going for 15 years now. Whatever happens, at least I have a lot of fond memories from it.

Some I've suggested elsewhere in previous discussions and some new ones:

  • Bad Religion - Into the Unknown

I would definitely appreciate this episode. I had always heard about how bad it was, and how they never played anything from it live for decades but I gave it a listen and I didn't hate it and still play it again sometimes. For an album that was reviled when it came out, I would definitely be interested in hearing people talk about it in 2021.

Jordan actually covered Into the Unknown with a group in a manner similar to Albummer a few years ago.

Crypt of the Necrodancer. I absolutely loved this game, but I just wasn't any good at it. Especially once I got to the third area. I couldn't keep up with the rhythm at all. And playing as the character that doesn't have to move to the beat just doesn't feel right to me.

So in the end, I just stopped playing. I'm really glad the game got made, though.

Devil's Crush, one of the classic Turbografx-16 pinball games. The music still rocks and it's a solid game. Plus it just got an achievement at over at RetroAchievements, so it felt like the right time to revisit it.

I'd still like to see him try the N64 games, but it seems more likely that he'd play Curse of the Moon 2.

Classicvanias definitely appeal to Vinny a lot more than the Metroidvanias, although he did seem to like Ritual of the Night a lot. It might be fun to see him attempt the first two games on the original Game Boy. Castlevania the Adventure is rough and I never did beat that game.

They've been at E3. I imagine they're feeling pretty tired right now and just want to rest/recuperate.

If I were to make any predictions, it would be that Jeff will spend at least some time playing it and Brad might give it a shot. Dan really liked Curse of the Moon so I'm pretty sure he'll play it as well. Vinny might? But if you go back and watch him finish SotN, his enthusiasm seems to grind to a halt some time before that game's actually over and I got the sense he's not a particular fan of the Metroidvania-style entries.

Are we going to get any videos of it? Probably, but maybe not.

I think Dan will also appreciate the fact that David Hayter is in it.

As someone who has been living in Los Angeles for a little over a year, I actually agree with you about LA. Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed some of my time here. There are some cool places to visit. And that kind of sums it up to me; I'd prefer only to visit this place. It's the biggest city I've ever been in, and I hate it. I need to be somewhere a lot smaller and with less traffic. Also, the cost of living sucks. The last major city I lived nearest to was Chicago, which was about 2 hours away, and I definitely preferred something about that city over LA.

Fortunately I'm moving back out to the east coast within the next few months.

And yeah, the taxes not being included thing sucks. Strangely enough, there's a CVS right next to my apartment complex that apparently includes taxes in its prices. I've rarely seen that done here.

I started Mass Effect 1, played about a third of it, and then got distracted for a few months before coming back to it.

When I first played Mass Effect, I made it to the Citadel, got overwhelmed, and quit playing for...a year? Not sure how long, but I think I ended up starting over entirely. Really enjoyed my playthrough once I got hooked, though.

Less so which game but does anyone else after they have had a long hiatus from a game have to start from scratch? Idk for me if i don't do that I have almost no idea where I'm at in the story, or who the hell I am, or what these people want me to do. I can usually grasp the mechanics fairly quickly but everything on the outside has me so overwhelmed that I have to start fresh.

Also I'm really weird and love the intro/tutorial parts of games.

This has definitely happened to me in the past (see my Mass Effect comment above). And I probably should have done this with Yakuza 2. I got inspired to play through it when they were doing the Yakuza feature on GB, but I was on chapter 7 and had pretty much forgotten everything about the game. I made it a few chapters further, but just couldn't get anywhere after that. I think I've retired that game for good at this point.

I know I have a few games that I've started and haven't played in months or years. Okami is one example. For that one, I was playing it regularly until a beloved pet passed away. After that there was sadness and I just didn't feel like playing that game, and it's turned into a 3-year gap thus far. Hopefully I'll get back to it soon. I did really like it, but I'll probably have no idea where to go when I go back.

Years ago I bought Ys: The Ark of Napishtim for PS2. I probably played about a third of the way through it before putting it down. I'm sure I intended to go back to it, but a few things happened in my life that distracted me and I didn't come back to it until 4 and a half years later, when I completed it. It rejuvenated my interest in the Ys series.

Earlier this year I finally played through Dragon Quest IV on the DS. I bought the game in 2011, and I definitely started playing the game. When I came back to it this year, I had a significant amount of hours logged into the game. I think it took me another 15-20 hours to complete it, but it felt good to finally be done with it. It was the third Dragon Quest game I've ever finished, with the other two being Dragon Warrior I and II on the NES. Prior to that I started playing Dragon Warrior VII on the PS1, but I stopped about 30 hours in. One day, I'll come back to it.

@nutter:

Yeah, as someone who really loved the Dead Space games, that asteroid segment was definitely one of the weaker parts of the series. I don’t think there’s anything like that in the series again after that, fortunately.
