@gtb08: I wouldn't call either of those things "in your face". The map thing is just small text with a button prompt at the bottom, its so not in your face I forgot it even existed. They don't even call attention to it at all. And the DLC is a menu option, like most every game. To let you know there is DLC if you want to play/purchase it. Its not like it flashes and you get some popup or anything every time you open the menu asking you to buy it. There are games that are far more egregious than this one.
@gtb08: I never once saw anything about buy now or micro transactions in Horizon 3. I honestly have no idea what you are talking about. I even just booted the game up and couldn't even find the menu to purchase something other than the dealership.
I finished this last night, and I have such mixed feelings/opinions about the game. Lots of it makes me want to rage and be angry about what a mess it is. But I also really liked lots of it. The story is the weakest part of the game, and the combat/open world stuff is the best, in my opinion. I think this could have been a great game if the story had been done better. If I had played this last year, there is no way it would have made my top 10.
As someone who hates Dark Souls/Bloodborne due to the way the combat and character control feels and their obtuse mechanics, but loves Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2 and loot games, these reviews are actually getting me interested in Nioh. Does the gameplay have the fluidity of a Ninja Gaiden, with the difficulty of Dark Souls, or is this just Team Ninja making their own Souls' game, a la Lords of the Fallen?
It's definitely more dark souls than ninja gaiden but you can play much faster and agressively than you can in dark souls when you master the mechanics in this game:

How can you watch that game play, and then say it plays more like Dark Souls? Souls games have methodical combat. That is just straight up button mashing action.
