Quick question for everyone about this. Can you confirm 100% what URL you are hitting? Check your bookmark if you use one. Does it start with "http" or "https"? The correct URL is https://www.giantbomb.com/. Other versions of that (such as without the s in https, or without www) will all redirect, but looking into the possibility that this redirect is not working all the time.

@pikahyper I can't replicate the delete issue now. On your next delete, can you copy/paste the page you deleted? Thanks.

The issue with deletes not updating the index should be fixed in today's release. I have reindexed everything so the previously deleted ones should now be gone.

@pikahyper I think that was fixed a couple of releases ago. Are you still seeing it as an issue?

The above changes are now live.

We have a new round of fixes landing today that should resolve the poor alias matching (and a few result title bugs). @pikahyper Not sure why what we had will degrade over time though. Lets see how these new fixes today handle things. There should be a large improvement.

We also improved the API results so they are much less noisy. @cbanack We do plan to do that eventually, its a great suggestion.

We have been hard at work and just released a new batch of fixes for many of the referenced issues. The big change is less emphasis on alias matches so you get better matching on what you actually typed. Aliases will still show up, they are just scored lower now. It also solves many of the oddball issues mentioned.

The next big fix under development is real time wiki association counts (number of associated games, etc). The current cached method is pretty crappy obviously.

Let us know what you think about how relevant results are. If you have examples of it not having the thing you were looking for in the top 5 or so results, let us know! We want search to be awesome.

@pikahyper Looks like we are having a network wide issue (unrelated to search) thats causing the lack of indexing. They are working to get things back.

To answer your question about whether it will index new stuff, yes it will. One of the big features of the new search is updates are first class citizens and guaranteed to stay in queue until they are successful. Also, we can reindex the entire wiki in under 10min if needed. So your edits should be in there soon.

@pika We just rolled out many fixes including metadata in results, better matching for foreign characters, and better matching on issues/episodes (like Batman 100). Still tweaking the metadata format though. More coming.

Also, many new fixes and improvements are in the works based on all the feedback. Thanks everyone for the comments and reports, keep them coming.
