This Quick Look really sold me on this. Just snatched it up. I love unique games like this and this really seems to be its own thing, warts and all. I also think it's one of those cases where the warts kind of make it even more charming.

@nethlem: Agreed. Also, if you're going to accuse someone of being shitty, at least get it right. Even if the allegations are proven to be true, which I have no idea if they are, then he'd be emotionally abusive, not a sexual predator, and while neither of those thing are good, one is a lot worse.

Also, this game looks boring. I had my fill of Borderlands with Borderlands 1. Borderlands 2 was more, and too much, for my tastes. Too much looting. Too much inventory management. I believe someone described it as an "arrow comparison engine." This looks like more of the same, with less innovation than between the original and the sequel. It'd probably be dumb of them to change it too much, though. The audience for this is people who love doing repetitive Borderlands things because apparently they love the previous games for doing exactly that.

Dan really hates LA.

I find it's a perfectly fine city. I don't quite understand why he hates it so much.

@49th: Agreed. The boss designs are really weak so far, especially somewhat early on. Their movement is janky, and while they telegraph their moves to a degree, something about bosses just feels off. (The glass hand was honestly just straight terrible, same with the double jump boss.) It's kind of telling that the bosses from Curse of the Moon that are also in Ritual of the Night are better designed (and animated) fights than the same ones in Ritual of the Night.

I'm playing on Hard, and it's not balanced at all as a difficulty. Started out extremely hard (too hard, honestly, and the load times on PS4 were not making that fun) but quickly became trivial an hour in. True Arrow is OP, I have a ranged sword now, and the painting spell is OP, as well.

People are giving this game too much of a pass. It's fun, but I don't even think it's as good as the DS Castlevanias and it's certainly not anywhere nearly as good, polished, and innovative as SOTN was. Game is a 7 or 8 out of 10, not much more. Fun core gameplay, though. Hopefully the bosses get better.

@subscryber: Sekiro would be a shell of itself if the enemies in that game fell as easily as they do in this one though. If this had saber combat on that game's level, I'd be sold.

Did you play Sekiro? The initial enemies die to three presses of R1. The monkeys pose no threat. The majority of fodder enemies are killed by spamming R1 with no threat to the player. Spider-people are killed with one press by jumping, same with lizards. Later, regular enemies get more difficult. We can certainly expect the same here.

Follow the path, climb, fight, repeat. Hope there's more to it than that.

I wish there was more of a middle ground in these third person games. Seems like it's either a braindead Uncharted-like or a 75-hour checklist nightmare. A game that gives you a wide-open space but takes, say, 15 hours to finish ... I'd enjoy those coming back again.

Did you like Sekiro? This is literally all you do in Sekiro. And Sekiro is pretty dang good.

So many negative comments about this game on Twitch and Reddit. I don't get it. People are complaining that he "does the same thing over and over." Well, it's clearly a Metroidvania, by "doing the same thing," the player is clearly using some kind of gated ability (force push) to open new areas. Look at the map, force pushable walls are indicated in green. You can assume that different abilities will open different areas and be color coded differently.

As far as the combat being described as simplistic, it looks like it plays like Sekiro, with a posture system for both the player and the enemy. Both are visible in this demo. Enemies who can't guard go down. No game is going to be as simplistic as what's shown here, almost assuredly the enemies turn into Jedi-like adversaries where you have more protracted battles.

As far as the combat not seeming visceral, I don't know what to say. It seems pretty impactful to me. You're not swinging a giant two-handed hammer. It's a light saber. It seems like it's replicating the feel of that pretty well.

This looks cool. The demo is a bit bland, but it's an E3 demo. I'm looking forward to seeing more. Not entirely sold yet, but this is promising.
