thanks, everyone :) i very much appreciate all the advice. i jumped in last night after posting this and playing a bit of fez. i didn't know what the hell was going on or what i was supposed to do. still don't understand what all the buttons do or mean, but i'll figure it out eventually or maybe not. lol idk. i started understanding how the combat works after a few of my soldiers died and then i went on a bit of a roll and had the aliens on the run to their ship but i couldn't figure out how to get into the ship or anything really so i ended up just wandering around. i also learned that i shouldn't select the throw command or else my person will throw their gun away...yea...that was stupid of me...ohwell =P live and learn. lol i'll keep trying though.

so i went ahead and bought the xcom pack on steam. installed the first game. did this all because i'm getting more and more hyped about the new x-com game from firaxis coming in october. i want to atleast try it and see if i can atleast get a good grasp of what is truly special about this series as i mainly grew up playing console games from the nes on with barely much pc gaming outside of diablo, HoMM3, starcraft, warcraft 3, and a few others. i'm nervous because i've heard so much from the bombcasts and from friends and from alot of other places around the net of the series' super heard learning curve and all. it has me feeling that it's gonna be one of those games that is just beyond me possibly. i know a handful of things will be different between the 93 xcom and this year's xcom but i'd still like t poke around and atleast attempt to see for myself what there is to it all. any tips for me before i start? i already know to not die and to shoot that guy. lol any others?

want: games to actually come out this year.

don't want: games to get pushed into next year or into darkness and also mr. coffee.

i guess i'm going to be in the minority that thinks that movie was too hokey for its own good and ended up just not being all that good. that's just me though =/. i guess seeing all the hype after people came out and said it was amazing beyond words or whatnot set my expectations higher than they should have been. idk

i don't have just one. top 10 would be (in no real order) suikoden 1, suikoden 2, chrono trigger, final fantasy 9, saga frontier, secret of mana, legend of dragoon, golden sun, star ocean, and pokemon red/blue.

dunno if this can count but asura's wrath's 2nd title card that comes all the way at the end level of the game. it's crazy but i love it so much. it's a title card that actually does come to you late in the game and it's just a great fuck yea let's do this moment.

been followin the guys since the days of on the spot and the hotspot. back when carrie, rich, greg, and the rest of the group all worked at gamespot. after the k&l controversy, i started to slowly distance myself from gamespot and following up with the blog that jeff was using after he took some time away from the internet for himself. over time i would see ppl leave gamespot one after another and i would more and more focus on their blogs instead of gamespot. then there was arrow pointing down. talk about gatorade tiger and about going to gdc. hearing the guys just shoot the shit together and uncensored was new to me after hearing them being censored so much beforehand. after some time, you would see a few more ppl chime in with them and then all the sudden there were talks of a new site and things getting a bit "smoggy". once they finally announced that they were opening a new site with dave and whiskey media, i sent my email in the first moment i could once they announced we could for entry to the site. been here ever since day 1 and before. no one does it better than the bomb crew. it's only going to get better from here on out. that much i do believe.
