The best way to google if an object has been in a video game is to phrase it "(item) game guide"

Jeff is going to have an amazing few years with his kids - lucky kids and lucky dad.

This is the single most important thing. Also honestly kind of rare and amazing to see a company reorganization that all parties seemed to walk away better than before (including the Nextlander folk!).

Was in a similar, shitty work environment. I did therapy to get through it but the thing that ended up fixing my mental health the most was finding a new job that was not as toxic.

I know it feels like a "failure" now, but after, you'll find that quitting is the single best thing you could do for yourself right now.

Also, therapy will help AFTER you quit this job too. It'll be a months-long period of processing the shit you went through before you can truly let go.

I'm on the Switch and got only one soft lock around Day 40-ish.

Occasionally, a restart is needed when I try to upgrade a regular grave to the stone grave, because instead of upgrading, it reverts back to a hole in the ground (with the body missing).

Day 65, however, definitely longer load times (especially when a milestone is reached).

I love most farming/crafting sim games and this one was interesting (and kept me playing) in its own way for these reasons:

- The crafting gave an "old-timey" feel of making stuff with the anvil or the saw (lol, though unrealistically of course). As in, most of the time I needed to devote time to actually crafting or else the final product couldn't be made.

- Anything being produced has to physically be delivered to the customer (or middleman in the case of the Merchant). It gave the game an interesting feel when I could supply my bar with alcohol in anticipation of special events via the DLC.

- Making my graveyard "classy" by constantly exhuming bodies in favor of "nicer corpses" and pushing the "ugly bodies" to the columbariums.

I put on a podcast and zoned out as tasks are constant and the work is never done. A plus and a minus for whenever I inevitably get bored of it.

@beachthunder:

True, I will switch that around. Thanks for the feedback!

@bobafettjm:

Yes! That was also my original purpose for the list. I realized the insect section is sorely lacking despite the popularity of bug-catching mechanics nowadays.

Hey fellow Wiki peeps,

What initially started out as a way to create a list of fish & animals not-yet added to the Concepts section turned into a Google doc of all the Concepts up to this point.

This is a personal list, so some of the descriptions are done in my own words. Names with a * are real world, existing concepts. *(generic) in the description are pseudo/fake/imaginary/story concepts but exist in the real world, intellectually.

Feel free to make your own copy for an easier way to find out if your idea is already in the Concepts page. I'll update the original every 2 weeks or so, depending on how busy I get.

"I have dreams again"

Subbed immediately. I miss Garage Talk playing on the 2nd monitor when I'm doing tedious computer works so this is a welcome addition.

I will post this is a couple of places because discussion on this topic is so fractured, but I think it needs to be noted that Jeff was getting the brunt of toxic corporate culture because of his role as EIC/founder/main dude. And Jeff has *never* been up for that role, the BS posturing is not for him. But the undue burden was unfortunately placed on him due to seniority/title/hierarchy.

It took a toll, but no one in the original staff or later joiners was really made for that role since they were all creative types. Maybe if they had someone to take the "business" brunt of it things would be different, but if anything I'm glad that Gerstmann doesn't have to anymore.

I think Bakalar might be able to fill that space because, as Vinny put it, he has a "certain way" of maneuvering in those spaces. I hope he can shield the staff as much as he can (and is healthy to do so) from its toxicity.

Absolutely, and I agree. I used to be in awe of GB because both the production of content and the output schedule flew in the face of every company structure I've known and heard about.

Corporate structure and politics are a different beast than just being an amazing site. I empathized with the GB East staff when they vented frustrations about talking to higher ups about the business model. Personally, at work, I spend more of my time REPEATEDLY making visuals for managers so they can get the gist of SIMPLE concepts (e.g. why we use screws instead of nails– baby stuff)... more so than actually carrying out the concept. It's not an innate trait I have, but some people can do that with just a 2 minute conversation (which sounds like absolute generalized gibberish to me, but again, it's a corporate language).

Honestly, while I mourn for Jeff's vision in GB, I think for everyone involved, it might be the best outcome. Jeff and Nextlander learned they have loyal, amazing fans (including most of us here) and can survive on a business model that follows their original vision they used to have for GB. Giantbomb staff can have an actual stable structure within a corporation (like as you say, Bakalar seems extremely capable) that's different but might be best for making a living for everyone involved.
