Mel Brooks' Silent Movie. It's absolutely rammed with clever visual gags in every scene, a lot of them bordering on the genius. Dom DeLuise, Mel, and Marty Feldman together is a magical trio to behold, and the way the music interacts with and accents the slapstick is so tightly edited. It's one of those gems like The Artist where you're not just entertained, but constantly wowed by the detail, polish, and sense of love in their homage to a long-lost genre.

The only word uttered is when Marcel Marceau exclaims "No!" when Mel asks him if he wants to be in his Silent Movie. What a fantastically meta joke. So good.

5/5

"What did he say?"
"I don't know. I don't speak French!"

Such a brilliant joke. That startled jump makes it even better.

This is a great surprise. I saw the news yesterday and was hoping that the compilation is being developed by the people behind Mega Man Legacy Collection. A few hours later Frank Cifaldi tweeted that's indeed the case! Duck Tales 2 is crazy expensive nowadays, so it's nice to have a way to play it legally without wasting a small fortune on it. Darkwing Duck isn't cheap either.

I think the oldest pieces of tech I still use are my old fat 40GB PS3, 2007 Samsung LCD TV (doesn't even have Full HD) and my Yahama 5.1 system, which I bought way back in 2003. The TV sometimes goes black for a few seconds if we watch a regular channel and graphics-intense games makes the PS3 fans loud as hell. Otherwise everything works well.

There's also my gaming laptop, which I bought in 2011. Can't run the latest AAA games on it, but it's still in good shape.

There's a rumor out that George Miller is on the short list to direct. I would definitely watch a Batman movie directed by George Miller.

Borderlands 2 made me yell "Shut the fuck up" at my monitor. The somewhat entertaining gameplay got completely buried by its obnoxious idea of humor for me. It's quite shocking that Tales from the Borderlands is actually pretty funny.

@butler: Have you seen Sonatine? If you like Takeshi Kitano, you'll probably really enjoy it. One of my favorite yakuza movies. If you want something more on the bizarre side, there is always a million different Takashi Miike movies out there to check out.

Seconding this. Sonatine is really great, maybe one of my top 10 movies of all time. It's dark and disturbing, but still has Kitano's trademark sense of humor. And some of Joe Hisaishi's best music to date.

USGamer, Eurogamer and Rock Paper Shotgun mostly. Sometimes Polygon, depending on who wrote the review.

I've played quite a few old games this year. Some of them are really old.

I spent a good chunk of my gaming time this summer replaying Fallout 2. That might be my Old Game of the Year. I became the boxing champion of New Reno by getting doped up on Buff-Out and punching my opponents in the balls. Fake Mike Tyson went down in one hit.

Then there's The Witcher 3, which I finally got around to playing this spring. I really loved that game. The characters are just so damn likable. And man, that Bloody Baron questline is a pure masterclass in writing and quest design.

Played through both Castlevania 1 and Symphony of the Night and started Rondo of Blood. Kinda regret using the Crissaegrim for most of the Inverted Castle now, since it became absolutely trivial.

We ordered a couple of movies (Ant-Man and Midnight Special among them) and I bought Hitman on the Playstation Store. We took it pretty easy this year.
