You don't get what I'm saying at all. I don't know what the level of PS3 or 360 piracy is. I don't have to.
The point is that we don't have to know, because it is dwarfed in comparison to the level of PC piracy for any particular game. Whenever you make an argument downplaying the level of piracy of PCs it sounds asinine. Compare the number of units sold for MW1 on the PC to consoles.
The sooner people admit that piracy is a large and unique problem for PC games, the sooner people can move toward a real solution. "People can pirate console games too".... that's a non sequiitur.
And before you ask for me to quantify the number of PC games that are pirated, I'll ask you what's the point of doing that?
1) No individual can conduct a scientific study of that nature 2) Game developers that track this data would be most capable of quoting such data 3) I could quote Infinity Ward's own numbers, but you could choose just to not believe them or say that they are untrustworthy, ect.
The proof is in the pudding. PC game sales suck. Developers are making games for the PC anymore. There's a reason for this. It's Piracy.
" Yeah, all the PC piraters are shooting themselves in the foot. Pretty soon there wont be anymore awesome PC games to pirate. Also, if PC gamers don't get over their sense of entitlement, I think a lot of publishers are going to find it more lucrative to make games for consoles only. "
Yeah, because console games can't be pirated, right. "
This is a non-response sadly. The level of PC game piracy is outrageous.
Saying, "you can pirate console games too", is laughable.
I have a quick question for those who had planned to purchase the PC version of MW2.
At this point if Infinity Ward/Activision reinstates dedicated servers for MW2 would you go back to the original plan and purchase the game, or would you not support them anymore on principle?
" I bet all 53 people that were going to buy the PC version are outraged. "
Hyperbole, but very funny
This has been great to watch unfold. Robert Bowling is the the man. He goes on the bash and slash podcast and endures almost an hour of criticism in question form and doesn't say what he really wants to say, which is "PC game mods and dedicated servers are extraneous"
My long, heart-felt response got deleted accidentally, so I'll just say this....
Someone over at UGO didn't do the proper research. You expect to acquire 1up with its faithful user and fan base, lay off a significant portion of the staff and expect to retain that user and fan base?
<Kevin Pereira> Really?..... really?..... come on!!! </Kevin Pereira>
I anticipate the user comments section at 1up being shut down before morning. There's a veritable shitstorm taking place.
One of my absolute favorite video game tracks from the genesis era begins after you jump off the Shi'ar transport in the second level of the game. I would often time my jump off the platform to coincide with the beginning of the track. After a minute or so, the crazy synth stabs come in and I would love it as a little kid. The Deathbird fight was pretty easy, but I would prolong it just so I could hear the music.
Any discussion I have with people about classic video games inevitably leads down a spiral toward Kid Chameleon. I find it's the best genesis game that no one played, which is unfortunate.
"Whirly Bird", "Hatchet Man", and "Vacuum Cleaner", were my favorite costumes, which I came up with my own little names for.
The game is ridiculously difficult at times, even on an emulator. This makes the moment when you hit that end of level flag and the subsequent music all the sweeter!
Kid Chameleon may not have been able to rival Sonic the Hedgehog at the time of Sonic's release, but almost 2 decades later, it definitely shows that it has more staying power.
