So far the only comments we've had to delete in this thread are from people complaining about the comments in this thread.

One person posting a controversial opinion isn't as disruptive as the 20 people who then complain about the entire comment section. If you're only stopping by to say "these comments suck!" then don't; However bad you perceive this thread to be, you're making it worse.

If you see a post that you believe is in violation of the rules then flag it. If you see someone posting an opinion you don't like then either engage with it civilly or walk away.

Thanks.

I like this feature, but I think 5 hosts is maybe too many. There were times where there were three hosts talking at once as well as the movie and it just turned into noise.

As one of the few hosts that hadn't seen the film I appreciated Abby's commentary the most. Honestly the more people who are watching for the first time, the better. Part of the reason I think the noise level in this film were so frustrating was because most of the hosts knew what was about to happen and didn't feel the need to really pay attention.

Alex, my dude, I love you but you gotta keep those spoilers under control :P

@njn: You seem agitated. Breathe :P

The original comment that I was replying to (and agreeing with) was a mutual understanding that we were talking about the arc, and that it drags on for too long despite being abridged. You jumped in and disagreed with me, so the assumption there was that you were defending the original cut. I'm not strawmanning you, and I ask that you'd be more sympathetic to that instead of accusing anyone who disagrees with you of trying to manipulate you or the conversation.

I don't know why you have this need to pedantically define when fights start and end but if you're going to push that agenda then sure, you're right. It's not the point I was trying to make, but whatever.

You're also right that there is little else to this cartoon and that I should stop watching. I should also stop engaging with this thread and get back to work. Peace x

@njn: By "the fight with frieza" I mean "Goku's squad of idiots" fighting against frieza, and the arc in general - which goes on for exactly as long as I said it does. The idea that people want more filler, for this arc to take longer to reach it's conclusion, is bananas to me. Try not to take it personally, please.

If you love this show then fine, cool, I'm not trying to detract from that, but this saga in particular was monotonous as hell. How many times does someone need to reveal they're wearing training gear, or be healed by a senzu bean, or revived by Dende, or announce that they have another transformation, or that they're not even at full power yet. Every time that happens it undermines all the fighting beforehand, and I don't think it's unreasonable to say that you can only use those Deus Ex Machinas to extend a fight so many times before it starts to wear thin.

And, again, that's in the abridged version.

@sevith:

Exactly. People here who just remember the original DBZ are acting like there's going to be 5 solid episodes of just Goku and Freiza slugging it out with no B-plot but that's not how it goes in Kai. The people responsible for editing together the Freiza Saga for Kai knew what they were doing.

It's certainly not as drawn out as the original cut of DBZ, but Goku vs. Frieza still goes on for far too long in Kai. I know @sweep agrees with me on this as he had the same complaint just recently watching Kai.

By "Far too long" you mean like 30+ episodes. This fight goes on for literally ten hours.

That's not an exaggeration. Each episode is 20 minutes, and Goku is still fighting Frieza on Namek in episode 56. And this is in Kai, which is the abridged version? That's ridiculous, and tedious, and genuinely not fun to watch for the majority of it. The idea that you'd want that arc extended even further by watching the original version seems completely insane to me.

And now I'm arguing about Dragon Ball Z on an internet message board. Great.
