Last night I went out to dinner with an ex of mine and a few of our friends, on the car ride there she looks into my eyes and tells me that my eyes are really blue today.

My heart swells and my insides feel like a mixture of happiness and love.

She then tells me all about her trip to Dubai and how awesome it was. 

But THEN. THEN. She tells me something.

"I've met the guy I'm marrying. He's some geeky guy in Dubai who is into computers and is an accountant."

Out of the motherfucking blue, it feels like someone has punched me in the stomach and kicked me while I was down. 

We've been broken up a long time but, I'm here to tell you GB Community, casual sex can fuck up a mans friendship and his heart. I'm not over her. I never was. When she came round we'd spend the day laying in my bed, cuddling, kissing, watching bad television. All the finer things in life.

After dinner we went into an arcade. We were walking around and talking and I said something stupid (as per usual) so she slapped my arse, I slapped hers back laughing and she turns around. She tells me that we can't do this thing anymore. The way she said it she almost sounded sad. I hugged her and wanted to cry. She then tells me I will have to get over her. She said yes to this man in Dubai and I just feel like dying. 

In my whole life I've never had a night more depressing then this.

1. Become a more successful accountant than buddy-Jim in Dubai :P
 2. Tell her how you really feel. It can't hurt to try. Get really emotional if needed be. That will usually get her thinking if it's a good choice to marry this other guy. Show her that you deserve to be with her... First of all, she went on a trip there? For how long did she know this guy before he popped the question? A trip usually implies a holiday for a week or so.
 
And if she slapped your ass, and you slapped hers back, how is that wrong? She slapped you first :P

Sorry to hear that man.  That is the trouble with friendships with the opposite sex (I suppose the same can be said for gay people and the same sex) - it is impossible to continue it forever.  It sounds like you will really miss her, but maybe you broke up for a reason (don't need to know).  I am sure you will get over it, but just allow yourself the time to feel like crap about it, nothing wrong with that.  You never know what is just around the corner.

You win on two accounts, One: you don't live in Dubai (Nice and all, but not exactly where I'd raise a family), and Two: You're not an accountant.

I still remember my senior prom. I went with this girl from a different High School. I really liked her. We had dated a few times, and she asked me to go to my prom with her. I bought a lobster dinner before the prom and did everything I could to impress her. She ignored me the whole prom and wouldn't dance. I took her to an after party, and she never stayed with me. She just looked elsewhere for something... at the time, I did not know what.  

When I took her home later that evening, I thought I could at least get a good night kiss, but she shunned me. I found out later she used me. She wanted to see another guy at the party, but she couldn't find him. I was heart broken.
 
I moved on and found my own path to love. But that memory still lingers after all these years. Sad but true.

Having communication with your ex is never a good thing. You kind of brought this on yourself. The only reason that maybe you would have still hung out with her is that perhaps you broke up with her in the first place. I understand that you guys were at one point really close friends, but once you guys have sex and get serious, it's never easy to just go back and think of her as only a friend. Just man up, and move on.
