So i very recently finished the game and although it was pretty much perfect i wish some of the characters were used more. for me personally two of the best characters were Leigh Johnson and Irish and yet as soon as you land in mexico the only thing you hear about them are tiny newspaper articles
in the end my question is who were you favorite charecters and who would you liked to have seen more of

for me i was looking on the red dead wiki for hunting tips and it said that "John or Jack won't skin the animal if you horse is on top" i then proceded to click on jack as i was intrigued only for there to be no spoiler warning and it told me that john died
so i knew his death was coming but not when which in my opinion was worse than knowing when or not knowing because i kept waiting for this charecter i loved to die but it kept not happening but then came along the rancher missions so i assumed these were just post game missions but then i find out he gets shot to death like mad

i think your saying that the opening cutscenes didn't show for you
this happened to me twice once with the poker game with the german, and the final assalt on allende all i did was quit the mission and retry it and it worked
it should be fixed in a patch
also with mexico i went off and did my own thing so i didn't get the epic music 
for me the epic music showed when you go back to the ranch

John was aged, wise and had been through alot and thats why i prefered him i got to really like his charecter and was real sad when he died.
jack just seems to arrogant for me
but the ending with edgar ross was epic and that made me like him alot more

at my school all the students except for me fell like they invented rick rolling 
they don't even do it properly 
instead of tricking people through a link they just wait until the person goes away from the computer then they go on the website
it's bullshit and everyone acts like its the funnyist thing ever and it's just really annoying

i was personally very dissapointed that the lib dems did so bad
then again i'm too young to vote
lib dems would have changed that
