Really this is supposed to blow me away? I've seen games look about this good on my pc right now without it breaking a sweat.. I'm a bit disappointed.. though at least I know I'll be able to run "next gen" games no problem.
@jrlyon: Just to contrast your horrible experience with steam with my own great experience I thought id share my recent story. I just got a new computer, so EVERYTHING has changed, yet all I had to do to get my 200+ gigs of games working on my new computer was copy over the steam directory.. Afterwards every game I started either worked immediately or after updating a couple files.. contrast that with reinstalling 200+ gigs of games or even worse, re-downloading them. That's one of the many reasons why I love steam. I've only ever had maybe 2 issues with steam, Once it failed to update and I had to rename the Steam.new to steam.exe and it was fixed. I can't even remember the other issue it was so minor... I've been with steam since they forced us to switch over from WON.net for half-life 1, so I've been around :-)
I have so much love for Carmageddon. I remember when i was like 15 or something and i got the demo for Carmadeggon, there was just 1 car you could drive and something like a 3 minute timer but otherwise a whole city level to mess around in.. well the whole game was pretty much built with plain text .ini files. The demo timer was something like "Demo timelimit: 300" i just deleted that line and suddenly had unlimited time in the demo.. so i changed the name of my car in the ini to an ai car and suddenly i was driving the other cars :P that ended up being a pretty damn full featured demo once i opened it up.. Anyway i went on to buy and love all the games, loved getting into the .ini files and modding to my hearts content as well. I'm hoping the new game will allow a little of that as well.. at the very least it better come out on pc :P whatever, still excited!
Good point, doing both is easy and will be a good way to learn the new system at the same time. I have to admit I havn't signed up for the twitter account because I hate twitter but for nuts & bolts I'll consider making an exception just this once :P
Anything we can do to get people playing this forgotten gem a little more is a good thing but we should perhaps get it organised first so people don't show up, see no game nights, then get discouraged.
Unless you guys all really really want swatch internet time, I'm willing to learn if i have to, although I still think more people know their timezones then swatch time.
Also, I'm going to look for a game in about an hour and a half from now (10:00pst)
That mech is awesome. I wonder if it can turn ? :P looks like they pretty much do what people did to make walkers in Gmod, use rockets and thrusters to move the legs.
Still, awesome..
I hope some of you guys are still playing in a week or two when my copy arrives.
I was totally gonna buy it for $20, but apparently over here in Canada it cost's an extra $20 to move all those bytes across the border. $40 for a 2 year old game is less appealing though.
I managed to find it for $10 used on amazon, hopefully it'll be in working condition. So if all goes well I'll be joining the club.
