@morningcoffee: This is actually arguably one of the better times to get into Destiny 2, because at least on Amazon you can find a package with all the expansions + forsaken for well under $60. Even putting the endgame/PvP/gambit aside, that's a lot of campaign content, satisfying combat, and pretty skyboxes to dig into.
So I have seen more positive vibes at other sites but big surprise Giantbomb thinks a BioWare game is complete trash! This site always shits on BioWare no matter what.
Uh...what? Vinny frequently says ME2 is one of his favorite games of all time, and others on staff definitely feel similarly. Brad says he's cautiously optimistic about this game. Sure they knocked Andromeda but that was a pretty common sentiment...
Anyway, I've been skeptical about Anthem but went into this video open-minded since I haven't seen any extended gameplay videos. Not impressed in the slightest. I'm a regular Destiny player and a huge fan of that series (warts and all), and unless the endgame of Anthem turns out to be very substantive (which I'm doubtful of, with no PvP or raid-equivalent at launch), I think this is going to be a pass for me...
I remember playing this game back in the day, but I forgot just how bad it was until I read this review! FWIW, I remember at the time enjoying Nightfire and Everything or Nothing much more.
I kind of can't believe Tetris won. As someone who hasn't played it, it seems like Tetris + Lumines (which to be fair, is a game I love). But still, hardly doing anything new, and generally just building on top of an already great game.
But still, loved the podcasts and deliberations! Most Disappointing got oddly contentious there for a bit, but overall very enjoyable and I liked the new format.
Not discussed much in the text review but the new raid is very good and very cool. I've done all of them except Wrath in D1 and this one is in my top 3. Fun mechanics that are fair, tough encounters that don't feel cheap. And incredible art/environment design.
