Do you believe police regularly beat up old folk because they don’t like diabetics, or do you believe police work in a very high stress job that can become a matter of life or death in the literal blink of an eye and rarely get the training their profession deserves

I believe some people get off on abusing power, and people who get off on abusing power are attracted to a profession where it is extremely hard to hold individuals accountable for abusing power.

Also I didn't mention anything about identity or race in my post, so way to read stuff into my post that wasn't there (ofc I do think there are issues with racial bias in LE but I was specifically trying to keep to a narrow topic in my post). You stated that police don't shoot people who are suffering from a medical condition, and I posted an article showing that police do in fact beat/shoot people who are suffering from a medical condition. That's all. It's true the article mentions a lack of training as a factor, but the article also explicitly says the larger issue is "cops' instinct to beat someone who doesn't immediately follow their commands." While you are totally correct and I agree with you that traffic stops do present specific dangers to LE, several incidents in that article are not traffic stops so it's hardly isolated to just that. Lastly, I would say racial bias could generally be considered an "issue of ignorance," so if you are willing to concede that police officers sometimes are ignorant in their responses to situations, accepting they sometimes may be affected by racial bias hardly seems like a leap.

Well here's a giant list of occasions when police officers beat someone simply because they were suffering from a diabetic attack. Maybe not "smoking a person," but still "really extreme" if you ask me (and actually, just glancing through the headlines, in at least one of these instances the police did kill the person!).

Just because you can't personally recall something doesn't mean it doesn't happen...

Nice work on the mission! I made it through the XCOM base assault with a few less scratches in the playthrough I'm working on right now (also Ironman Normal), but the zombie ship was a much closer call for me. My team was surrounded by the crawlers by the time I got back to the evac zone.

Meanwhile Dan keeps getting the easy EXALT missions. Anyone else get the feeling he's going to wipe a squad if he gets a real tough mission next?

Does anyone know how close they are to the enemy raid on their base? Internet says it happens 10-20 days after the alien base assault.
