I'm sure someone has posted this already but proper way to make absinthe: 1) pour a shot of absinthe into the absinthe glass. 2) lay the spoon across the top of the glass. 3) put a sugar cube on top of the spoon above the notches so that it will drip into the glass as it melts. 4) pour cold water slowly on top of the sugar cube, let the sugar and water melt into the glass. 5) Once the sugar cube has melted stop pouring, take off the spoon, and enjoy. Glass will probably be about 2/3 full but you can put more or less water according to taste.I have also been served straight absinthe at a bar before so you can definitely drink it straight as well. I actually like the taste - but 70% is stronger than the absinthe I've had so it may be less pleasant.
