"(not as good obvioulsy, but it just doesn't matter). "
Baloney. If graphics didn't matter, you'd be playing Zork.
HD matters in a very objective way: in multiplayer shooters, because HD (along with large draw distance) allows you to spot enemy from a distance much easier.
Of course, graphics don't matter in rpgs or adventure games: So go play Zork.
The problem with the Wii is not the low-fi quality of its graphics and sound output. The problem is that the Wii is a marketing scam. I already own a GameCube. Why would I want to buy a repackaged GameCube called Pee that makes me look like a doofus when I play it? Had this game been released on the GameCube, I would have already owned it.
While we're on the subject of low-fi: why aren't there SCANLINE filters in rereleases of old arcade fighting games? I'd rather play these on an emulator with a scanline filter--and I've been doing so since the late 90s.
I usually play LBP with my wife. It's fun and albeit it's somewhat easy thanks to the generous amount of check points--I don't quite understand how xyzygy kept getting squished (???)--trying to collect all the bubbles and/or playing user created levels extend its replayability. If you suck at a game, it doesn't necessarily follow that it's broken. With that kind of attitude, I'd become one of the worse (read Irate Gamer) nostalgic reviewers on youtube.
As for downloadable games: Fat Princess is a good game. Zen Pinball is fun and pretty to look at. I spent many ("many" is quite relative though) hours this summer, playing BC1943 and BC Bad Company. Bad Company is fun, as long as you don't mind the occasional crash.
This is a general reply to idiotic "Epic sucks" and "Gears of War" comments: You guys are either pathetic noobs or joking. Take a look at the list of games using the Unreal Engine 3:
