I watched the video and liked it. I respect his opinion even though I disagree with a couple arguments he makes. Tho he's right in saying Link Between Worlds is one of the best Zelda games ever.

I would have loved to talk in more detail about this but this thread's title is completely childish. If what you wanted to say was that you respect his opinion but you didn't like how he said it you could have done it in a much better way. This should be closed.

What you are saying is you got a problem with Arin because he made a video where he deconstructs what he feels a Legend of Zelda game should be, while using the style of humor he tends to use. At least that is what it seems like to me, and that seems kind of pointless. I think I agree with @deusx.
I'm a new Egoraptor/Game Grump fan, only known about either for a couple of months. I like the humor (which by some peoples opinion I shouldn't seeing how I am 27 and not 14), and I thought he made some excellent points. Points I hadn't considered, which enlightened me and in turn has made me look at and enjoy a couple of games even more. While I love the newer Zelda games, Majora's Mask is my favorite, I would love it if the new Zelda was more what he seems to want.

Sorry but I guess I was not clear. I don't agree with the name the other poster gave Susy. I just have a guess as to why she is not liked by grumps fans. I find her a bit annoying and uninteresting, and thus I never watch anything she is in. All was saying is that she did nothing to be called that. But hey, remember the whole internet thing. The issue with his criticisms of modern Zelda is most of them actually do apply to old Zelda just as much. The series has always been about making you feel smart without actually requiring you to do anything smart. Sections where you use anything other then the "dungeon item" to solve a problem are the exception and not the rule in ALLTP just as much as they are in OOT. The look for a thing and shoot it with an arrow sections being basically the equivalent to the bomb a random wall to proceed sections in ALLTP. Making the player wait to attack enemies can build tension and it discourage button mashing, I don't really see how it's a bad thing.

Totally on board with that Skyward Sword hate though. Motion controls are dumb.

There's actually a video where he commentates over the episode where he got booted off and he explained the process and what it was like. Initially he was there to goof off, but after the first day he said he was pretty much done with it. And yeah, there was a LOT of editing that he pointed out, like how they made one of the guys look like a real creeper via editing. Plus, he states that they ASKED him about his Youtube subscriber count and everything related to that, so he's actually no boasting when he's talking about that, he's just answer their questions, but through the magic of editing they made it look like he came up with it himself, consequently making him look like an ass.

twlight princess is basically a remake of ocarina of time. it just feels extremely dated. the world itself and the story isnt that interesting and the mechanics work but they are dull.

skyword sword gets props for trying something new with the motion mechanics (the ones in the wii barley count) but i think it made it worse for wear. they were a bit clunky and hindered the gameplay. once again the world overly uninteresting.

The games just feel slow gameplay wise. the puzzles in the games weren't great either.

really I think only 2 3d zeldas I could consider good which are majoras mask and windwaker.

majora built apon ocarina and made it better. you cared about the characters and the story. Every person in clock town felt like a person (for the time at least). there was a bit of variety with the quests i think it benefited but not having almost all the action in dungeons. it added variety and kept you interested.

Wind waker isnt perfect but it did two things great: made the combat fast and fun and it was very pretty with expressive characters and just overall better dungeon design. it also didnt take itself too seriously which in a fun adventure like zelda i think it helps.

I wont knock ocarina as its the first of its kinda but it doesn't come close to holding up and its flaws and problems are really obvious now.

That really doesn't make sense. Sure, the gameplay in Twilight Princess uses the same basic concepts as most of the 3D Zeldas since Ocarina of Time, but the game isn't really a remake. I'd argue that I found the story and world of that game to be more compelling to me than Wind Waker and Ocarina of Time.

I was using that more as a way of convening how much it felt like the same game.

they certainly tried to make it more fleshed out and epic and i like midna but it ultimately felt flat to me. I somewhat agree that the story is better than wind waker and ocarina but that doesn't make it good.

I think the game overstayed its welcome as well as it seemed padded out. I dont think its an atrocity or anything. its alright. mediocre. but its certainly not what some reviews or people make it out to be.

for me majoras mask and wind waker tried to do something at least somewhat new and a vocal group of people just wanted a new ocarina so nintendo just went "fuck well just give you the same thing we did ten years ago". they (TP and SS) just seem kinda lazy.

Getting back to Zelda, I've always said Ocarina was boring but that could have been due to multiple factors (I played very late in the N64 life cycle, played it after so many PSX RPGs, etc). I cruised through the game and found myself thinking how weird it offered no challenge compared to previous games and I even wondered if I simply outgrew the series. To this day I wonder what they saw when they claim Ocarina is the definitive Zelda. Majora's Mask was more daring and Link to the Past was more of a challenge.

I am also curious since Skyward Sword did ship with a game-breaking bug. Something about doing some dungeons out of order or something would make it impossible to progress. Sounds like a potentially bad game by those standards to me.

That was a bug that at least could be easily worked around, if not patched (and yes, Nintendo did patch Wii games, even if it was in a crazy-ass roundabout way). Which is still a far cry from Big Rigs being so nonfunctional that the complete inability to access the final track was the least of its problems.

The fact is I don't know whether Egoraptor likes random battles or not and that is why I don't give a shit what he thinks. But if you werent joking and actually have evidence of him liking random encounters, then by all means post it so that we may point out to him his grievous error. At the very least it would be a great opportunity to get egoraptor fans to discuss the problem of random encounters in games and raise awareness.

I had a great time with Skyward Sword.

I was all doing the sword fighting until I found that I could just bash enemies with my shield but then my shield caught fire and I had no shield, so I bought a metal shield but the later enemies all had electric swords so I learned to depend on my fencing prowess. Cutting dudes has never felt so satisfying.

That aside, did Egoraptor actually steal money from the bloke with the parrot? I'm sure that the guy who used that horrible epithet about Egoraptor's wife wouldn't throw about such a charge willy-nilly.

Random Battles got my son hooked on drugs and murdered my wife...

I honestly don't give a rats ass about zelda, and the guy makes it clear every step of the way that this is his his point of view, and even encourages you too write a response if you're willing since he shot his opinion at you for 30 minutes. Plus he makes some valid points about game design and how video games should generally stand out in comparison to say, movies and comics.

Either ways, I loved the video because the guy made me laugh more times than I can count.

I think it's a pretty bad video considering how long it took to come out. At some point it stops being a Sequiltis video, and just becomes a rant of OoT. It's also not as funny as the Megaman video was. Oddly enough, a few days after that video came out I found this guy.

I think it's a lot more informative than Egos review. He also does videos for Majoras Mask, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, and Skyward sword. All of them being really entertaining.

I don't see the problem. Egoraptor is generating views for his channel by daring to criticize one of the 'sacred cows' of the gaming industry. Of course, this is generally what Sequelitis is about. Some of them I agree with, some of them I don't. But if someone cares a lot about their chosen game, criticism gets taken as a personal attack and everything goes to hell. (which is why i'm glad people keep embedding these videos instead of making me see comments)

Personally, i'm more about watching videos about how good games are - tearing apart old games with 'retro reviews' isn't my cup of tea unless its done to show off and maybe introduce the viewer to a game they may have missed.

The great thing about not paying attention to the internet at large is that I have no idea who this guy is, and couldn't care less what he or anyone else thinks about the games I like.

Egoraptor's fine. He's usually funny enough, and yeah, he's probably being a little too cute with his "I'm gonna get mail for this one!" thing -- but let's face it, the stereotypical Zelda nerd has kinda earned that image.

Anyway, his points aren't wrong here, but they're ultimately just over-extended nitpicks, given the whole breadth of the game. Just goes to show that anything can be scrutinized if you want it to be. Also, c'mon, the game's like almost two decades old now (fuck).

I find it hard to watch these. It's not really constructive criticism or it's funny, instead I just find it reaching.

Nothing of any real depth to add here, but I like his stuff. At least the sequelitis stuff I've watched. It's presented in a way I can enjoy, is fairly well produced, and even when I happened to disagree he didn't seem to intentionally be polarizing with his opinion or demeaning towards a certain audience.

Regardless of your opinion of Egoraptor, he's responsible for the best Sonic related thing to come out in years. (the song, the video was done by a fan but its not bad)

I agree with this but idk, after reading his post it doesn't seem like he's looking to just trash talk him. Seems like a regular blog where he doesn't like the material and just wants to express it. If he was mindlessly bashing Egoraptor then I would agree.
