If DmC was a new IP, I wouldn't give a fuck. But it's not. It's actively destroying a brand that I like. And worse still, people with credibility who haven't played the brand are giving it power. DA:O was destroyed by DA2, and the same thing is going to happen here.
Just to let you know, it has been mentioned at least a few times, especially when Bayonetta came out that most of the GB crew never really cared for the DMC games...so you'd rather have one of them play it? Cause in regard to the GB review, it was probably either going to get played by someone who had no experience with the old games or a negative experience with the old games.
If they hate the genre, fine. I can't hold that against them. I love them, they don't.
But saying that this revitalizes the series that was healthy before by tearing apart everything that made it good in the first place is just irresponsible, and destructive to an audience that wasn't exactly fucking small. The series prior to this had thr... four games. You don't get tw... three sequels by being a niche audience that can't support development costs.
It's exactly the same train of thought that leads to "all stealth games were bad, Mark of the Ninja has saved the genre from itself". Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck you.
