Is there actually a game with better NPC chatter then Hitman?

I'd love to hear it. Though honestly I'm not sure it exists.

Preface; Dan is great. Long ramble to follow but just try to remember that bit.

I want to study Dan for science. I think he'd make an amazing case study insofar as general average man American psychology and sociology.

Dan isn't dumb. Nor does he seem particularly amoral. Yet he is so incredibly ignorant about so very, very, many things. Yet completely shameless about it.

What's special about him in this regard though is how open of a public figure he is. I would almost be willing to put money on the idea that Dan is wholely representative of the majority of the people in his country. Almost. Hence the study.

People always give Dan shit for not knowing supposedly super common concepts and otherwise espousing some... let's say pretty incredible beliefs that are proveably not true. Or utterly batshit. We only know these things however because he talks for a living to a large audience and has no shame about the things he believes or doesn't know.

And he shouldn't. Ignorance is not a sin. There's nothing wrong with not knowing a thing. Willful ignorance is and Dan frequently expresses a desire to learn and grow.

How many people however are just as "clueless" as Dan but you would never ever know it because they're not putting out hours of content each week? The totally normal person walking past you the street is just a Dan.

No; Dan is this unique example of a normal guy who somehow became an utterly transparent public figure yet also isn't afraid to be himself. Isn't afraid to be wrong. To be looked down on by total strangers.

I really want to lock him in a room and grill him about every tiny detail of his life. His belief systems. Upbringing. Life choices. Everything. I genuinely think we'd learn some amazing things about the true non-society biased nature of humanity. As well as a lot about American society as well. He's like a Pandora's box of sociology and psychology.

I'm feeling a really dumb crisis of choice right now.

The last wrestling game I bought was the 2012 version and before that probably No Mercy on the N64. I used to love wrestling games but they're so crappy these days.

I don't want to support these games. It's the whole idea of there being no incentive to make a better game if what they're doinge keeps selling.

Sure one copy is a drop in the bucket and doesn't really matter... but that's a dangerous attitude to have about anything. Positive change never happens if everyone follows that line of reasoning.

Yet I see this video and even knowing the game is as bad as ever I still like wrestling and miss wrestling videogames. The real problem of course being they are literally the only game in town and my high and mighty attitude of speak with your wallet to promote a better game really does fuck all.

Should I just suck it up and buy the crappy wrestling game? Decisions decisions...

I got to give you guys all the credit in the world here; I would have thought watching three dudes sit around building a PC to be literally impossible to make engaging.

Then someone had the bright idea to add DDR. Genius move. I tip my hat.

I just will never understand the popularity of stuff like this. Let's simulate some of the most awful aspects of modern human civilization mixed with the riveting gameplay of creeping around and peeking around corners to take potshots as other people.

But it's so hugely popular and well made!

My tastes have never really approached the mainstream but damn. This is not a fun activity.

I feel the same about GTA for that matter. Why is being a gang banging murderer and asshole fun for people? This is the worst of people :(

Alex's "interrogation" sequence makes me want an open world game where you play an evil Terminator sent back in time to murder fools. For the greater good of the machine of course.

Also I'm glad I watched this. The prologue stream was fantastic, almost made me want to play it; this thankfully reset my expectations. It's just one of these games. Looks more interesting then vanilla GTA but... not for me. Pass.

@polyesterkyle: I hope that bears out. It's an easy thing to say. From the context of this video it's a thing that get's tossed out up front then never brought up again.

But there's a lot of game left past where they play. I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt... guess I'm just cynicle though. I'd almost put money on it not being brought up once again for the rest of the game :p

I'm kind of blown away by how good this seems. I respect GTA but I also can't stand playing them. Thematically garbage to me. Also I hate cars and will only begrudge them in a game that's hooked me hard. This? This I might have to play. More Sleeping Dogs or Red Dead then GTA it seems to me.

Also I really want to kill those mob guys.._

Geez, for a game that leans so hard on the idea of being a black guy in this era it's pretty damn sad that they still, within like 30 seconds of boot up, go all "Naw it's cool; pretty sure he's half white!"

Says a lot really.

Don't worry white America! He's still kind of white! It's Ok to like this!

Bleh.

@nuck: Living in Canada the people from the U.S. that come up always seem utterly baffled by the concept. So if nothing else it's not a ubiquitous thing down there.

Weird right?
