I sometimes wonder if GB makes some choices just to troll the audience. If so, I tip my hat to Mr. Caravella.

Anyways this looks very cool. I was luke warm on Ancestors, I suppose it doesn't trailer very well, but after sort of seeing it played I'm super curious to give it a shot. Seems clever.

If anyone ever actually makes a good Superman game I hope they find some cutesy meta way of having Supes break through an invisible wall.

I think there was a time for Ash being in stuff. But that time was like fifteen, twenty years ago. I don't mean that to be a dick about it, I love those movies.

But at the time I think DVD had really breathed new life into a lot of those sort of cult movies, never mind the Spider-Man bump really shining a light on Raimi's old work. Add the timing of kids growing up having heard about Evil Dead and Army now being of that age to be "into" that older stuff, as opposed to now when we're like two generations removed from those movies being relevant. But back then? There were a bunch of game attempts, comic books, nerd memorabilia, "special edition" rereleases, etc.

When they were talking about that Freddy vs Jason vs Ash movie at the time, it didn't seem totally out of place.

In 2019, it pains me to say it but, I don't think Ash stayed as relevant as Freddy & Jason. Those guys are iconic movie monsters even today, despite the lack of new movies featuring them. I think Ash missed the boat. 2005 or so really was the time to try to push the Evil Dead over the top but it never really worked out for them.

The TV show kind of works. But the gist of that is that Ash is a washed up over the hill hasbeen who has to get get back into things. It's a clever premesis that is probably the only way to justify that character coming back in 2019. Just being... Ash, as he was, would be almost like being Duke Nukem in todays world.

Ok. He's not as bad as Duke.

That's why Ash in Mortal Kombat is so weird. I mean it kind of keeps in line with their other guest characters, it's more of a time with all their other 70's and 80's guests. Spawn being 90's man probably makes him their "most current" guest character funnily enough. But it seems like they're getting into a really specific demographic (ie me).

I think they might make it work though. Amusingly all three guest characters have canonical Old and Young versions they could pull for MK11. Having both Army of Darkness and modern old man Ash might actually be a really cool way to go, even justifying his inclusion a bit if only because he adheres to the games gimmick.

I'll never understand why people groan about rogue-likes so much. There are so many bad games.

Bad FPS'. Bad fighting games. Bad open world games. Bad MMO's. Bad RPGs. Bad Battle Royales. Etc, ad infinum.

So why is it that when yet another rogue-like crops up that isn't the next Binding of Isaac, or other top tier genre mate, everyones is all "Boo! Stop making rogue likes! Too many!"

I mean we still get great new ones pretty often. Innovative, different ones too. Dead Cells, Into the Breach, Slay the Spire. All amazing.I

Not every game is good. Most examples of any genre are less then stellar. To be kind. So ignore them and move on, t he goods ones will rise to the top.

Just a pet peeve. Not really directed at the Giant Bomb folks; I think it's a funny bit every time they introduce another one with such chagrin. But still. Same complaint about people who bitch about "yet another pixel game" as if they were all of some ubiquitous quality. Meh. Sorry for the vent.

I think Brad's "Monster Hunter and..." might be Dragon's Dogma.
