I've got Primarina, Magneton, Toucannon, Tsareena, and Mudsdale so far. The Bounsweet that you can trade for at the beginning of the game is quite good once you evolve it to Tsareena. I didn't intend on using it but it's base attack of 120 was too good to pass up. I was training a Salandit, but then I found out only the females can evolve which really bummed me out. I could go back and grab one as I could really use a fire/poison type...

@oursin_360: Yes, all of those recent games had issues with localization, but remember that those are all games on Nintendo platforms/published by Nintendo. Atlus games that are localized typically do not remove or censor content (as far as I know or at least nothing major) for western releases even on Nintendo's platforms. Tokyo Mirage Sessions seemed to be an exception as it was a different kind of game shooting for a wider, crossover audience.

I saw this earlier and thought it was hilarious, and I like Final Fantasy. Of COURSE he's gonna rip on a JRPG for being slow and boring. The only reason he didn't do the same for the Witcher is because there were boobs.

It's incredible to me that there are people in the comments saying, "Well now I don't think I'll get it." If THIS is the thing that convinces you not to buy this or any game, then I don't know what to tell you.

I gotta say though, the bit at the end with him yelling at the reps is amazing.

Also, the part you don't see here is before that segment played, he talked about how they sent him the game and told him he could say whatever he wanted. Conan told them that he actively dislikes video games and he was probably gonna bash it and the SE reps were totally fine with that.

It's not like I care about Conan's critique. I care about the game seeming to have a needlessly obtuse story full of jargon that means nothing. I care about the game world being huge, beautiful, and sparsely populated with things worth doing. I care about the devs designing a 72 hour boss battle in the first place. What kind of opulent design ethos do you have to have in order to waste time on a boss 99% of your audience can never beat due to the sheer number of hit points? Those are all red flags.

And it's unfortunate because I think an RPG set in a road trip through a pseudo-US sounds awesome. Some of those towns and road-side shops look pitch-perfect. But the main story stuff looks like it has every element that has repulsed me from modern FF games.

That's...fine? I'm not trying to defend the game from actual critique, I was merely commenting how ridiculous it is to decide on the merits of the game based on this video. I mean, they showed maybe 60 seconds of actual footage and obviously picked mundane and nonsense scenes to fuel Conan's comedy. I have no idea if the game is going to be good or not or if the story is total inane nonsense, I just mean that it doesn't have anything to do with this video.

As someone with a completed living dex, I wish you the best of luck. You already did the hard part, getting those Mythicals out of the way. I finished my dex late last year but had to wait months until Shaymin and Manaphy popped into the giveaway slots for me to be truly finished. The only one I still don't have is Volcanion, but it only recently became available here so I'm not sweating it. I expect there will be an online distribution somewhere down the line like all the rest.

I definitely like seeing some unfamiliar names. Matt Mercer and Cassandra Lee Morris are the only standouts that I immediately recognize. Very interested to hear Erika Harlacher as Ann since I've only heard her as Kyoko in Danganronpa who is a very subdued character. All in all seems like a solid cast.

@haz: Well in VI style was a separate stat that equipment had which only came into play during a special fashion show type minigame. The more stylish stuff you equipped the better your chance of winning some good and unique items. The style stat did nothing outside of the fashion show game as far as I recall. I imagine it's similar if not the same thing in VII.

DQVII is primarily known for its length. I can't really say where it ranks in the series as it's the only one I haven't played and the Dragon Quest games are very similar mechanically and story-wise. I'm planning on picking it up soon and am very excited to jump in.

VIII is probably the most popular entry in the series. It looks great, very vibrant and colorful, and the characters are without a doubt the best in the series. It's still a very traditional RPG (which is not necessarily a bad thing) and it has a neat alchemy system that they took and expanded in IX.

If you get a chance and are feeling a bit of that Dragon Quest fever, track down the DS re-releases. IV, V, and VI were all remade for the DS and they are all great titles. V in particular I consider to be one of the best in the series. III is one of my personal favorite games of all time if you wanted to go retro.
