@darth_navster: Thanks for the support! Also: I totally forgot to write anything about modern Bioware with Dragon Age. Damn it. Anyways, yeah, I think Bioware wasn't just jerking around when they decided to implement their first large-scale, binary morality system in a universe like Star Wars; it's a fantastic combination. (Come join Austin's "KotOR II is the better game" club, there's probably a few more people down here)

@slag: Oh yeah, production costs are definitely a factor (As a fan of old Deus Ex, what are these f2p subsytems in Mankind Divided?). Also like you said, then, I guess AAA probably is never gonna strongly revisit this topic; I hope a few indie devs will carry the corny-morality torch for me, though...as long as they improve the system along the way.

@encephalon: Agree 100%: as a former dungeon master I can say guaranteed that players *hate* when a morality system prevents action or otherwise is an obvious limiter. Of course this problem is further compounded with video games since, you know, the devs aren't gonna sit down and have a chat with every single player. Maybe the best way to reward morality "tiers" would be hanging *how* the PC performs an action, so like a slight change in script, or how aggressively/violently actions tend to be performed. Hell, now that I think about it, maybe morality bars would be best as cosmetics, a thing that changes attack animations to batman-incapacitations or brutal executions.

@bigsocrates: Yeah, I was planning on talking about Team fortress in passing, and a lot more about the specific effects of team dynamics and "lone wolfing." Between those and the Blops 3 reference, though (was planning on differentiating appearance vs actual effects on gameplay), I was way over the one page limit I'm setting. My plan is to try and just get something out after work as often as I can, but you have totally valid points, so thanks for the feedback!
