I put RE VILLAGE but that's just cause I'm almost certain I'll love it. In reality there's a *ton* of exciting stuff in there. Spiderman, Deathloop, Hitman, Kena, Solar Ash...

I'd keep going but honestly I'd list more than half of the games they showed as "Extremely Exciting." Really glad to see a good show like this without E3 to push it.

I think I used to date people for bad reasons--the feeling that it's bad to be single, loneliness, etc. As someone similarly thinking about dating again and reflecting on what I'm actually looking for:

- Creative drive, someone that might cook a new thing without a recipe or improv with an instrument. Actually being good at stuff isn't remotely as important wanting to try.

- First instinct isn't to judge. I dated someone that, even if they weren't mean to me, would often criticize friends and family behind their backs. It was...uncomfortable. If you're not gonna give people the benefit of the doubt, it's eventually gonna become a problem.

I think the reason they started with the cool "follow the wind" GPS is because that's the only notable thing Ghost of Tsushima's got going for it. Not to bash too hard based on one video, but something tells me if it wasn't for the cool setting we'd be calling this another Days Gone.

Pretty much same story here:

  • Love XCOM
  • Was already curious about Gears Tactics, now excited that media impressions are positive
  • Have GamePass

In my situation downloading it's a total no-brainer. I've also been playing XCOM Chimera Squad (also good), but it crashed and corrupted the wifi drivers on a friend's PC, so I'm gonna play Gears until XCOM is stable. No idea why such a small game would run so suboptimally, but XCOM 2 didn't run great either so it's not too surprising.

I got Xbox Gamepass on PC and went from wishing I was playing more games to drowning in stuff to finish. I keep getting halfway through something and then finding another game that really grabs me. Some of my favourites on there right now:

  • Indivisible | 1/2 finished | a really novel thing to me, and despite a handful of critiques it's been a really fun ride so far.

  • Sea of Thieves | 3/4 finished | Griefing and long session times have led me to a love-hate relationship with it, but it's the only game that my entire friend circle can agree on playing, and it's really impressive how many new things they've added.

  • Hollow Knight | Just started | I'm a massive fan of Super Metroid, and consequently am already a massive fan of Hollow Knight. The map is super cool, great music, etc.

  • Age of Empires 2 Remastered | meh | There's no way I'm gonna get through much of the campaigns, but it's been fun booting this back up for nostalgia's sake.

  • A Plague Tale | Just started | Really like the pitch and visuals. I'm not far enough to have any solid opinions yet, but I wanna play more

  • Halo MCC | Just started | Never played the original Halo...and it's missing a lot of my favourite shit--dualwielding, energy swords, etc--from later games. Thankfully I'll never have to worry about it leaving Gamepass, so it's a low priority to finish.

Big fan of squad tactics games, and since I have gamepass for PC I'm gonna try it regardless of reviews or lack of coverage.

That said, I'm surprised at how optimistic some people sound talking about it. If it's even above-average Gears Tactics will by far be my favourite Gears game, fingers-crossed.

I'm about 4 or 5 levels in, loving the game so far. Since most of the good stuff is that same, delicious murder-romping from 2016, though, I'll stick to critiques.

Cons: The world and story feel a little more careless than 2016, and the combat has maybe one too many types of cooldown (frag AND ice grenades, each with independent cooldowns??).

I've found a few solutions though, that have improved my experience a bunch: change the UI colour scheme to 2016's to look less gamey; get the slomo perk as soon as you can to make hitting weak points fun instead of frustrating; upgrade your suit to mark all collectibles on the map.

Doing those above things, combined with the game just getting better with subsequent levels, really got things clicking for me. When Eternal is firing all cylinders in those Slayer Gates, it more than makes up for any rough edges.

2 is probably a better game, but I give all the props to 7 for being such an out-of-nowhere hit. That game was at DOOM 2016 levels of quality vs expectations, warts and all.

I personally haven't been affected much (beyond some mild shortages at supermarkets). I actually work in mail so its actually maybe a little more volume than usual. They're telling all of us that you can't contract Covid-19 from boxes but I'm almost positive that's just upper management not wanting employees to worry.

Honestly, I'm a pinch jealous of people whose jobs can be done from home, but also it'd be pretty bad if post offices closed so I'm not complaining.

My friends in school are having a lot more trouble, though. Universities are sending people home, online classes, even closing dorms in NYC and stuff. All the disruptions around housing might get some of them in dorms stranded. I know some folks bailing on school to go back home have fucked up rent for their roommates too, which seems shitty but idk their situation.

Thanks for the heads up, me and my brother were waiting for a good sale to jump on. At 3$ it's a little surprising they're not just making it free, though (even just for a limited time)?
