Odds are Microsoft forced Valve into this position. I'm making this claim based on what we know about MS and Valve.

1) MS disdains free updates, and the free survival mode update to L4D is, as far as I know, the only free update offered through X-Box Live that is not a patch.
2) Valve felt really bad about the Orange Box's multi-platform release, so much so they stopped developing for the PS3 and fought  tooth and nail with MS to have the L4D content be a free download.

Valve probably lost this trickle down content battle with MS, and this is the only solution they can think of. Lets hold off the boycotts and what not until we get the full story.

Fuck has he just been robbing a gamestop/funcoland/whatevergameplacetheyhavethere for the past 20 years on a weekly basis. I've been gaming avidly since I was 5 and even if nothing had ever broken or been traded in I wouldn't have anywhere near the collection he does.

(Fatal Furry) Hats off to you sir.

@ Aion

Not taking the DVD box set thing seriously, as it is obviously a joke, but do you have any legal precedent relevant to videogames for that to be illegal? The most I know of is a patent Nintendo holds about showing gameplay through video inside of a videogame. I can't think of a good reason why selling captured video of a videogame would be illegal. Nor have I heard of videogame companies going after people who host captured video.

Also I think Endurance Run has inspired more people to buy the game then stop people who were already going to buy it but decided to watch Jeff and VInny play through it instead. I know I bought Persona 3 and 4 after a few episodes and completed them both. Honestly this is probably some of the best advertising possible, watching critics whose opinions I respect enjoying a game I had not heard of.  Anecdotaly I know there are quite a few others who watch Endurance Run have done the same, because they post things like "just got the game today!" in the comments.

I just wanted to watch you beat the king. Remember how he dishonored you and your families? Remember that pain? I feel it too. I need closure. WE need closure. This is all so upsetting.

The Hendenpeter is a blimp Peter Griffin owned briefly before it was consumed by flames due to the use of a highly combustible gas as a means to defy gravity.

If you signed up for this site it's safe to say you're a gamer lol.

I enjoyed every single game you mentioned, but they're not for everyone.

Give them a try for sure.
