this will probably be my all-time favorite fromsouls game if only because the boss fights feel like you are a powerful warrior in cool fights against powerful foes instead of a gymnast with a big sword rolling around and occasionally poking when its safe (love all the games tho don't get me wrong) i hope Jan enjoys it.
this is currently my favorite type of GB content, jeff looking at old weird (usually bad but not always) stuff. I'm sure nostalgia is part of the appeal for me but also ive become increasingly curious about old games that did very adventurous/inventive things (for better or worse) before certain "good practices" of game design were crystalized like "never put gex in a game"
I'll preface this by saying I have not watched this video yet BUT I really wish Giant Bomb would "get weird" by diving deeper into video games and not "get weird" by covering a wider range of interests. i haven't found anything else on the internet that scratches the itch of stuff like seeing jeff toy around with weird, broken c64 games. it seems like there is a lot of potential in bringing new people onto the site who bring new perspectives on games and new expertise into whatever their particular interests are. also, new people would bring new ideas, new creative energy, like when dan came to the site he brought "half-assed game show stapled on top of video game" which not everybody liked but it was different! anyway, still holding out hope and i will def give this a shot
@mmahardy not sure if this has been commented on yet by other commentators, but one of the functions of a conductor, as told to me by an audio engineer who recorded orchestras for a while, is to "mix" the musicians much the way a live sound guy might mix amplified instruments except instead of twisting knobs and throwing faders, the conductor is gesturing towards groups of musicians to play louder/softer to get a good mix. I'm sure they do other things too tho like keep the beat/help through more creatively interpretive passages etc.
