I don't think that the possibilty is there for really tight games untill they start popping up all over youtube. Once that happens, then it might be worth a look. Same with Wario DIY. Wikipedia says its out in Japan, but notice there are no awesome custom microgames on display on Youtube.
Personally I didn't like anything that Super Paper Mario had going for it, with the exception of the pit, it was all really bland. Not to mention how a run ability was the very last thing you got, one chapter consisted entirely of walking a 10 second distance, hearing some lame dialog, breathing the fire, moving on to the next door, repeat about 30 times, and the only companion that talks is about the least likable companion ever written. It was a mess really.
Nuts and Bolts had a soundtrack that copied all of its music from previous games with the exception of the hub world's music. Sure, they were remixed, but in their original games they were remixed 5 times for each world honestly.
What do you lot reckon will be the hub of choice for Years 1-4, and 5-7 after that? For 1-4, I don't think they have any choice but Hogwarts, but even then they could do the common room, they could do the great hall if they wanted to avoid any issue of other playable characters belonging to other houses chilling in the Gryffindor Common Room, or they could just do a random hallway with the third floor door, the bathroom, the witches hump, and the other bathroom but for prefects if they really wanted to.
For 5-7 they have a bit more flexibility, seeing as how 7 has a lot less of a focus on Hogwarts and they could mix it up a bit more and do something that is not Hogwarts without it being an issue. I'd say Sirius's home might be a good placement for that leg of the series, if not that then the Burrow.
Well really so far they've not delivered the 360 version of TF2 anything, so I would say they have proven they can in fact do one and not the other. That said, the mindset of getting things for free seems like the way things work when it comes to Valve's multiplayer propositions, but I don't think they expect to get Episode 3 or Portal 2 for free. They'll probably be cheap, sure, but not free.
Well really in the case of Steam, the update would've been free and in fact mandatory I'd imagine. The 360 version would be a lot more iffy though, as I doubt Microsoft would let a full on 5 campaign patch with significant gameplay modifications go out for free. At the same time, it'd probably like 30 bucks at most, so it's not optimal from any angle.
Still I'm buying it because I really enjoyed L4D1, and I seriously understand their dilemma. L4D sits in an odd place, halfway between a multiplayer game like TF2 which they are expected to dish up significant content for in order to expand the player base, and a more story based single player experience where they are expected to do more episodic content on an annual basis.
