Awesome, sounds like I could really get into some Final Fantasy games. I haven't really played a lot of them, made it to like, disk 2 for FFVIII when it originally came out? Seems like a killer system to check out PS1 games I missed.
I just broke out the vita after having it packed away for a while and decided to finally play through Persona 4. I'm really really enjoying it (despite being kinda bewildered by some of the gameplay systems..), especially playing it on the vita, which I'm finding is a really awesome piece of hardware. I haven't been into handheld caming since like, the original gameboy when I was a kid either, so it's been an awesome new experience all around.
I'm not that far into Persona, but what other similar rpgs are "must haves" on the system? Is Persona 3 available, and how is it comapred to 4? I'm definitely open to more classic stuff also, I picked up Final Fantasy Tactics and am hoping VI might be available too?
It's really cool to see guys who have been around for so long weigh in on game reviews. They bring a real perspective to things, and I think they can frame the quality of games in the context of their time a lot better. As always, Jeff brings great wisdom to these talks that you would expect from a 20 year veteran of the industry.
Also, Gamespot took a real dive in quality ~2008 and the few times I checked in after converting to GB, I would just shake my head. These days, it seems it's really improved? I'm really enjoying some content those guys are putting out, might have to *gasp*, start surfing on a regular basis.
Man, World of Warcraft and the surrounding community for the first couple years was probably my favorite experiences in gaming, and sadly, one that I think I'll never experience again. Would love to just relive those glory days.
There's also a pretty awesome Barcade in Jersey City if you're willing to take a 20 minute path train! Definitely go check out Video Games New York, they have an insane offering that's unrivaled in the the area. Also, go to the Nintendo store in Rockefeller (not really video games, but the Lego store there too is really cool).
