Two Worlds.

I'm partial to any game where you can (a) kill everything on the map and (b) completely break the systems to become vastly overpowered. This game has both. You can literally depopulate the map twice (the enemies and then their ghosts), and alchemy gives you vastly inflated stats with pretty much zero work.

It gets a special bonus for terrible writing and hilariously bad line delivery. It also has a terrible faux-Enya song at the title screen. It's bad. But it's also great.

None. A podcast or a game should be good enough to hold my attention individually. If I'm listening to a podcast at the same time I'm playing, that's a pretty good sign either the podcast or the game isn't very good.

@therealturk: Hmm, I'm not seeing this in my Firefox. Have you tried private browsing mode? No add-ons?

I have not, but I tried it on Safari at home and I ran into the same problem. As far as I can tell, this happens with podcasts but not videos. The problem is more acute when trying to scroll at the beginning of the audio. The progress bar seems to run into the volume and play/stop controls, so when trying to scroll back to the beginning, you end up playing/stopping the video, for example.

New one when trying to listen to the Beastcast.

I can no longer use the scroll bar to "rewind" a podcast. It is possible to click or scroll to move forward (although in general, the progress bar is extremely difficult to move around using the mouse) but this will not work to go back if I miss something.

On Firefox.

Probably Mass Effect: Andromeda? It was supposed to revitalize the series and instead we got a bunch of soulless gameplay, bugs, terrible writing, and Donkey Kong memes.

I dunno. The written review seems to be mostly on the way out and I generally don't pay much attention to who writes the review, since the churn rate seems to be pretty high.

Having said that, I usually agreed with Sterling back when he was actually writing reviews. He had the added bonus of at least having a style, love it or hate it, which is more than can be said than most reviewers these days. So many of them read like they are giving a 4th grade book report.

Recently, I randomly found Inside Gaming based on YouTube recommendations and found myself generally agreeing with their reviews. The sample size is pretty small though.

From this site, my tastes generally align with, of all people, Dan. I can only conclude he must be more sophisticated than he lets on.

I'm actually playing through Pillars 1 right now. Like you, I think it's probably the "best" CRPG to come out in a long, long time.

That said, I think part of the divisiveness might be due to some of the rough edges in the combat and inventory management, etc. I keep finding myself badly wanting a "hold position" command, since the AI has a tendency to go completely gung-ho and charge the party Into a general melee rather than sticking with their assigned positioning. I've mitigated it by altering the companion AI to be more passive, but then you have to manually fiddle with the entire party, so there isn't really a good "middle" ground.

Also, I can't remember, but were either of the Baldur's Gate remasters in the last 5 years? I remember buying them, but I have yet to play through them. Might as well go all the way back.

I was playing Dragon Quest Builders 2, but it turned out to be super-disappointing, so I went back to Dragon Quest XI instead.

Congratulations on eleven years.

Of course, in another couple of years, GB will be a sullen teenager that stays in its room and says no one understands it. Another few years after that and we'll be telling it to move out and get a job.
