I have become very price sensitive recently but it has been getting worse since I built my PC about a decade ago.
Nowadays I won't buy games as they come out, they are just too expensive and I don't see the value in them when the price drops so quickly after coming out.
Take PC games for example I won't spend more than about £15 on a single game and am happy to wait for sales or use CDkeys to keep prices down. I am also taking advantage of Gamepass to play things I wouldn't pay for for.
For Switch games I will keep some 1st party games and then sell the others once complete and If you wait for sales/discounts or buy used you can get some pretty good savings. I then also sell the games on when I am done so it really only costs me about £5-£10 once its all sold and I am happy with that.
I'd go with any HDMI 2.1 equipped OLED, most current LGs offer this. You want to look for good HDR support and adaptive vsync they also go up to 120hz frame rate.
Having seen PC HDR monitors on Linus’ YouTube channel and what I have seen in person they are just bad currently. When you think of HDR you think of the insane picture quality and colour depth you get on an OLED in the shop which isn’t the case on monitors.
Not to mention that the VESA HDR certification is a hopeless bag of shit, cheap HDR400 -600 monitors have such a low peak brightness output that you lose a lot of the detail on very bright and very dark scenes.
More expensive monitors have the decent HDR1000 cert but because they use local array dimming you get a halo effect around bright objects on dark backgrounds (white pointer on steam window for example. Also they are hugely expensive the ASUS PG279UQ is listed at £1900 on Amazon currently
Windows also doesn’t handle HDR very well. Honestly you are better off either getting a great 1440p monitor like the the Asus PG279VQ about £500 or getting the new LG 48 inch OLED tv and using that it costs about the same as a good HDR monitor at £1500ish with none of the drawbacks it even has adaptive sync which works with Nvidia Gsync and the new consoles.
I don't think they are too negative at all, I think they are acting exactly how you would expect people to react to what is happening in the games industry and the world in right now
Constant reskins or rehashes of the same game.
Constant new stories about sexual inpropriety at all levels of the industry.
Price increases incoming when games are already packed to the limits with MTX.
Very few exciting new games in the coming months.
Mostly stuck at home for the last 5 months.
I am feeling the exact same way as I believe GB are currently. Games currently are a shitshow. I am looking forward to the New Horizon, Cyberpunk only. I am interested in a few others but there are very few I am actually looking forward to.
Edit:
The Xbox showcase was shit, the Ubisoft showcase was shit and the EA showcase was shit. Even the Cyberpunk demonstration was disappointing.
