So is the aboriginal female protagonist with dreads, the female version of the generic bulky super soldier dude?

The amount of "Haha, Youtubers and Twitch Streamers are lame, am I right guys?!" going on was a bit much for me. I can't believe that people in this industry would rather see celebrities paid to shill for a game they have no interest in or connection to, rather than passionate players who are thrilled to be there and actually hold interest and excitement for the game they're representing.

I really don't want to come across as an asshole or as being too harsh on the GB crew, but I feel that a ton of people seem to have forgotten that the Youtubers and streamers weren't the ones that came up with this "influencer" or "content creator" shit. They're passionate people doing shit that they love and for the most part, they're good people building diverse, international communities. The amount of money donated to charity in the name of so called "influencers" across both Twitch and Youtube is insane.

They say that sort of stuff because they all know their jobs and livelihoods are being threatened. YT and Twitch are so much more popular than this site, so they all lash out with snide comments because they know their days are numbered. Jeff is probably the only one on GB that could leave, start a Patreon, Twitch, and be successful. The rest would/could never do it. YTers and Twitch streamers are out there busting their ass, posting new content, or streaming 5 days a week, and in some cases EVERY day. The west coast office could barely put out a podcast and a quicklook once a week.

I'm actually surprised someone in the community actually called them on it, because the user base here usually comes across as duder worshipping automatons that agree with everything they say.

It's getting real bad. This site has become a shell of it's former self. It's kind of sad to see. I don't even listen any more. It's like west coast team doesn't even try. Even if they do get more staff, I just don't see much changing. Dan, Austin, and Patrick were the only ones that ever tried to do something here, 2 of the 3 are gone and the other is in NY now. Dan has seemed to revitalize Alex, who IMO always is at his best when he's paired with someone.

Chalk up another episode and reason why I continue to question listening to the bombcast at all anymore when I get all my actual GB needs from the beastcast nowadays. West needs to hire some damn people cause I can't take anymore of these guest episodes.

@nodima: I thought the difficulty was inconsistent. At times it was difficult, and for large stretches, especially toward the end it was really easy. If you didn't upgrade all your powers, and essentially min/max the system, you could easily get crushed in many of the areas.

These big open world games should really ditch the dumb stamina usage when running in the world out of combat.

I'd buy this if it came to PS4, PC, or Xbox. I'm not buying a new console for this one game, and ALTTP is my all-time favorite game. I also take any review of any Zelda game with a grain of salt. Zelda games have an average metacritic score of something like 95. It's become the sacred cow that writers love to fawn over and write hyperbolic nostalgia drenched fluff pieces about (I still love you, Dan).

Skyward Sword and Twilight both were given near perfect scores, and it's funny to hear people backpedal on their opinions of those games (except Jeff). I wasn't surprised when Jeff expressed his skepticism about the game's mechanics in the last podcast. You can almost hear the 8-4 Nintendo fanboy's in the room gasp that his experience wasn't anything other than transcendent.

I will say this though... This is the first Zelda game I'm actually interested in maybe playing since Ocarina. It seems like the designers have actually decided to take cues from Western games that have been doing this sort of thing right for years now.

Dan asks at around 39:00 how no one speaks up in meetings to defend the functionality of Mario Maker... It's a simple answer. Japanese culture, particularly Japanese business culture forbids this sort of thing. It is taboo to question those who are older, and in positions more superior to you. It isn't like here, where people are sometimes encouraged to share their opinion and the CEO sometimes listens. It's very possible that there are people at Nintendo who are in junior positions who totally "get" Mario Maker. Unfortunately, they are virtually powerless when the higher ups make backward decisions. Nintendo is a company much like another Japanese company, Canon, who consistently make ridiculous head scratching decisions in regards to their products.

I cannot think of a game that could be more offensive to my sensibilities as someone who hates anime and the modern FF character design. Yet, I am so torn about this game... It looks so ridiculous and so dumb, but there are moments where it shines despite all that. I understand we'll probably never get a traditional western fantasy design aesthetic ala FF1, FF6, and Tactics, but if I'm ever going to play another FF, it might be this one.

I was bummed to hear about the lack of summons in the game, but the combat seems interesting even to an old turn based snob like myself. I just can't get over how these characters look and sound. I just can't.... I barely put up with Titus, this is just too much J-pop, japanese ladyboy for me.
