Best of 2012 Back Pain Edition

Hello all yes it is another top ten list I thought I would do this as it has become a sort of tradition for me the last 4 years or so. Also a side not I have been suffering some pretty server back pain the last 4 months so I haven't been able to play as many games this month as it has hurt to sit down but I am now doing physio and feel heaps better and losing wight so I can actually sit at my desk and play games.

First of my pile of shame I will get to in the new year. Far Cry 3 I have a new video card and solid state hard drive coming to play this game on. Max Payne 3 picked this up on sale looks good and last but not least Legend of Girmrock.

Edit : add The Darkness 2 to that pile of shame waiting for it to be on sale.

Now with out further ad due here is my top ten games if 2012

Best of 2012

1. The Walking Dead

This game is one of the pinnacles of story telling in games in my humble opinion. Clementine is the first child character I have actually cared about in a game and Lee is an amazing avatar for you.

2. XCOM: Enemy Unknown

No one does turn based strategy better than fraxis. X Com has the same just one turn addiction that the civ games have. Now 80 hours later I still have yet to beat the game on classic better get back on to that in the new year now if only it wasn't such a buggy mess.

3. FTL: Faster Than Light

This game came out of no where for me having never played a rouge like game before I never expected it to enjoy this much , this game whipped my ass 9 ways from Sunday and I thoroughly enjoyed it from facing of space pirates to agonizing over which weapon or upgrade to buy I would always come back for more. Also we neeed more space games.

4. Mass Effect 3

I wish I could have told my self to wait and have the same experience that brad did with all the DLC. Yet the only one I had was the collectors edition. If I had the same experience he had this would have been my number one game of the year yet that ending :( Still learning about the Geth and Mordins fate were some of the best moments in gaming this year.

5. Torchlight II

As some one who has never like Diablo something in Torchlight 2 just clicked for me. Maybe it was how different all the loot looked or how satisfying the spells were but something about the formula just clicked were it hadn't before.

6. Sleeping Dogs

This game felt like an action movie with a heavy focus on hand to hand combat and stunning graphics plus really good voice acting kept me hooked for the 40 hours or so it took to finish the game.

7. Borderlands 2

I wanted to like Borderlands 1 I really did but between having no one to play it with and the PC port being garbage I just couldn't play it. Luckily gear box has fixed the port this time round and I have been playing CO OP with my cousin I'm about 4 hours and diging it I plan to finish it over the new year.

8. Dishonored

Ahh stealth games a type of game I normally avoid like the plague. Dishonored how ever gives you the tools you need to get the job done I only wish there had been more options for non lethal take downs.

9. Call of Duty: Black Ops II

This has been this first call of Duty I have enjoyed since Modern Warfare 2 and I use the term loosely. But with a unique campaign and complete multi player package I was thoroughly impressed if only us kiwis didn't get screwed on the price on steam which is 90USD sigh I guess you cant have everything you want right.

10. Assassin's Creed III

Why do games struggle to have good endings? Any ways Assassins Creed is as still as fun as ever they need to change up the formula as its starting to get old.

Now thank you if you if you took the time to read this feels good to be able to sit down again.

I hope you had a good Xmas and have a safe new years .

Thanks Time_Lord
