I really don't understand why file size keeps getting brought up as a limiting factor here. XBLA games have a 2 gig size limit, which has been ignored in the case of Portal: Still Alive. Then there are the Games on Demand like Burnout Paradise, Gears of War, and Assassin's Creed. PSN has never had these kinds of restrictions on files, other than the capacity of the hard drive. The fact that Shenmue came out on multiple GDROMs is not something that either PS3 or Xbox 360 can't handle.

" Why compile them on Blu Ray, just release them both as downloadables on PSN/XBLA. I've never played Shenmue but I'd happily try it out for ten bucks. Gives Sega a little extra cash for an old game and some direct numbers by which to gauge interest. "

Too large I think, and also at least give a choice of either/or. "
Nope, not according to Soul Calibur or the incoming Sonic Adventure. Dreamcast games are proving to have no problems as downloadable games. Just launch Shenmue 1, then 2, ten bucks each. Perfect for testing the waters for a Shenmue 3. "
Do you think a downloadable version of Shenmue II will have the ability to transfer all of the data from the first game to the second? Also, will it be available for PSN and not just for XBLA?   Those games need to be in all of the platform it can be on; the more platforms it's on, the more people will have access to it. "
Possibly. I guess if the downloadable Xbox versions of the first two Banjo Kazooie games could share data, then maybe this could too. It could also be done a la Mass Effect 2, where ME1 creates a file after you finish the game that ME2 reads for pertinent data that gets integrated into that game. It would add to the development that would need to be done before a downloadable Shenmue could be released, but these games have shown that it's possible.

You can shut the system down and it'll keep downloading stuff in the background.

Actually it reminded me of Shadow Complex. That makes me happy.

I like to play SNES games when I'm sick. One time when I was younger, my father rented me a SNES and Super Adventure Island, and since then I've played that game when I'm sick.

There are churches in Bayonetta, so why even bother going out?

Wait until the details of the special edition are confirmed by the publisher, then get it on Amazon with release-day delivery. Done.
