To everyone saying that Ubi is screwing up because you and others won't follow them to U-Play....

No Caption Provided

Patrick already said this on Twitter but it bears repeating: Ubisoft wouldn't be making this move if they didn't have data that told them it is a good long-term strategy. Keep in mind that every sale on U-Play is more valuable to them because they don't have to give a cut to Steam, and recouping that money will help offset the small number of people that are adamant about only using Steam as their digital download platform.

I think it's terrible. Not worse than the prequel titles, but still awful.

I limit my gaming-podcast consumption to the Giant Bombcast, so take this with a grain of salt, but I would argue for Alien: Isolation. The main game is fantastic until the last two hours, when it devolves to just pretty good. Plus the DLC for it is great, filling out the stories of what happened on the station before Ripley shows up. My game of the year right now.

This console cycle has been so interesting, and all the ways that Microsoft has been trying to stabilize the Xbox One has been a big part of that. I also think that the PS3 is informing a lot of these decisions; they have a great model of what happens to your new console when you decide to stick to your guns in spite of consumer feedback. Interested to see how/if Sony responds.

Also, REALLY wish the Sunset Overdrive bundle wasn't a white Xbox One. I'm gonna feel so dumb for spending an extra $60 to buy the console and game separately just to get a black Xbox.

My favorite part of this whole thing is where he describes the places he'll be seeking future employment: "If I do continue to work in games it’ll be as an anonymous 1 of 1000 at some shitty corporation."

Wonder if that'll come up in the interview. Tragic that the guy cannot seem to stop self-destructing, but it's also way past time somebody had to deal with actual consequences for the vitriol they spew online.

@excast: I think that if any kind of content bothers the reviewer enough for it to affect his experience with the game, that should be included in the review. If the content that bothers him doesn't bother you than mentally adjust the score up accordingly. If he or she talking about content that bothered them but did not affect gameplay bothers you, stop reading that writer. There are no shortage of games reviews out there. I don't think it's right to say that because something doesn't bother you someone else cannot write about how it bothers them.

So long as the writer played the game and is writing their honest impressions of having played it, whatever those may be, no review can be considered a disservice. They have no obligation to the reader beyond that. The reader is not entitled to having content crafted specifically to their tastes.

@fordroog: I can't put my finger on it. For a while I was way into it, and I bought the DLC as soon as I could. I felt like the DLC maps weren't very good, and then I started getting bored. With CoD the maps are small enough that you are always getting into skirmishes, and to me that game almost feels like basketball; there's always something happening and the momentum shifts every couple of minutes. The maps in Titanfall suffer from being large enough to support titan combat which makes infantry level combat (which is more than half a match for most players) too spread out. Battlefield has always had this sense of teamwork to me that I never got from Titanfall, and the player count plus the number, the number and types of vehicles, and the spawn system means you are always seconds away from a fight, and the fights feel like they have meaning, and there is plenty of variety. Titanfall just started to feel stale, like I had seen everything there was to see. The biggest variable in the game is the burn cards, but their random nature and the way you will earn/stack a ton that don't fit your playstyle, even though you can dismiss them, didn't keep me wanting to play more.

A competitive online-multiplayer shooter. At this moment Battlefield 4. A couple months ago I would have said Titanfall but that game hasn't been able to hold me.
