I mean, there's probably a version of this game that costs $80+ on its own anyway, so a year of Premier is actually really good value when you consider you get all games in the vault and the best version of all EA games coming out in the next year. You even get free Apex Legends paid currency and a discount in the store. Plus, they actually have a fair few non-EA games in the vault like Cities Skylines, Darksiders 3 and They Are Billions.

I actually think services like Origin Premiere are really good for the price considering that some of these games you can sink hundreds of hours into alone PLUS the fact you get the Sims 4 and ALL the DLC is a $400+ value so there probably isn't a better way for more people to play games with massive amounts of DLC than through the service. I didn't know how many games you would actually get from subscribing and the quality of them so it is very impressive. I already own the 2 best games on Origin though - Crusader: No Remorse, and Syndicate. The fact that there is NO way to play Anthem early other than using Premiere is just a bummer when I know there are lots out there who really don't want to spend an extra $15-$100 (for a year if they go that route) and then be forced into buying a game if they don't want the service, but want the game. I'm excluded because I've already got the Origin Premiere just to play early and will be buying the game before it comes out to make sure I don't lose out on the preorder bonuses.

I also see I get a 10% discount on buying Anthem Legion of Dawn, so if I like the "custom armor packs" I can spend the extra $20, otherwise yeah I guess getting the standard edition + origin access is same as getting the more expensive version but just getting the option to play earlier. I just got the issue of knowing for me The Division 2 (I can't stop thinking of how much fun the shooting was in that game) will probably succeed Anthem in terms of fun games to play although owning both and not requiring a subscription to a monthly service is a damn good reason to buy these two games.

Yeah it is kinda crazy that no matter what version of the game you buy, Premier gets you earlier access that you can't get any other way. I too think I ultimately will enjoy The Division 2 much more - I just happen to have Premier already from Fifa/Battlefield so I'm happy to try this while I can. To be honest, from the couple hours I played this evening my opinion has improved drastically since the demo where I thought I wouldn't like it at all.

I mean you can have the $5 a month version of Origin Access right now that gives you a 10 hour trial, but is Premier like Game Pass in that you get the entire game as long as you stay a Premier subscriber? If so Premier for $100 a year actually seems like a great deal.

Access premier does work like Game Pass (as long as you remain a subscriber you get the full top priced edition of each game). If you play a sports game (Madden/Fifa/etc,) each year and are interested in another couple of EA games, it's definitely worth it.

Having said that, even for free (with my subscription) I doubt I'll put a lot of time into Anthem. It's so dull and the shooting/action isn't close to what Destiny has going.

Jeff always presents this image of himself as being very much about game preservation, but then acts so snarky and cynical on quick looks like this. It's very off-putting.

Why preserve something, if not to mock it? Is there any other reason to keep something around?

I enjoyed the first game, about to play this one. (both were on games with gold - this game is this month). I love arcade american sport games, but as good as the first game was, it was no The BIGS 2. That game had a lot more in the way of power-ups and chaos. It's still not backwards compatible. :(

Did they censor some of the dialing tones from Rorie's phone?

I don't want to call Norm, but if they didn't, someone with the will could still get that number from the stream by listening to the push tones when Rorie dialed. I don't think anybody in the community would do so, but I can't vouch for the internet at large. Just a thought.

PS: Don't call Norm.

Interesting fact: The Funeral for a Friend song, Streetcar, starts with a call being made and some fans figured out that the number was the lead singer's landline. This is the only souce I could find, but I remember it happening back in 2005.

I bought the taken king with all previous content for about $30 two black friday's ago. I had a blast.

When the following DLC came, (Wrath of the Machines), I bought it, realised how short/repetitive it was, felt burned and quickly dropped off. I haven't played Destiny since.

IF I buy this game, I will wait for the year one expansion and do exactly the same. (Except I won't buy the 'Wrath of the Machines' equivilent DLC).

I still think Destiny needs a few expansions under it's belt for the total package to be worth $60. But of course, that's a personal opinion.

Dan's reveal in Gang Beasts is one of the year's great moments

That and the conclusion to that match, with the whole "kill the chicken" lead up over the preceeding matches might be my favorite 30 seconds of GB ever. I was out of my chair and barely able to see from laughing/surprize. Wonderful stuff. I saw that Jeff went into the room, but I didn't see Dan go hide behind the pipe. It made it perfect.

@clapmaster: YES! I never had that because it was only a NA release if I remember correctly. I played 1,2,3 and 4 to death, but I always wanted 2X!

How can there be anything racist about Dong Song when the GAME generated it. Dan didn't make that up, that was the default name. Dong is a legit Chinese surname and there was an entire Song dynesty around 1,000 years ago. If Dan thinks its funny in a childish way, I say let him. He's not hurting anybody. X-Com soldiers have no feelings. They're all sent to their deaths.
