Thought it'd be fun to take the Top Ten lists (Not sure if Jason is making one), do a simple ranking, and see which games would make up the mathematical Top Ten of the year. Will update when more of the lists come out.
I did a quick 1-10 point scale, 1 for tenth, and 10 for first. Tie-Breaker goes to highest rank, then Alphabetical. Check out the Google Doc here.
Here's the Top 10 with Patrick, Dan, Jeff, Drew, Brad, Vinny, and Alex:
1. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (47)
3. Bayonetta 2 (32)
2. Far Cry 4 (24)
4. South Park: The Stick of Truth (24)
5. Jazzpunk (18)
6. Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft (13)
7. Destiny (12)
8. Mario Kart 8 (12)
9. Shovel Knight (12)
10. Wolfenstein: The New Order (11)
And here's the Official GOTY Top Ten for comparison:
1. Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
2. Bayonetta 2
3. Far Cry 4
4. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
5. Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft
6. South Park: The Stick of Truth
7. Jazzpunk
8. Shovel Knight
9. Mario Kart 8
10. Destiny
I have to say, that's really damn close to matching up. In fact, only Call of Duty and Wolfenstein are the odd men out. I'm honestly surprised that Call of Duty is even on the list, considering only Jeff picked it (even Destiny had more than one person), let alone number 4. That's kind of crazy how well Jeff can convince people of his views. Otherwise, the Top 3 are exact, and the others are just shifted around a tiny bit.
This was super fun, and assuming Jason isn't going to be added, an interesting experiment to see whether the discussion has any effect on placement.
