You have been responsible for taking up literal days of my life with these - I absolutely love what you're doing, your compilations of 1UP Yours and EGM Live especially.
Also I have to say, your podcast descriptions are goddamn amazing.
Just when someone at Giant Bomb finally played Kentucky Route Zero! I THOUGHT WE HAD SOMETHING!
But for real Patrick has been one of the best voices at this site since he started - as someone who followed him since his 1UP days I'm confident in saying he's even one of the best voices in video games right now.
So long Scoops, and good luck in whatever you choose to do - you can count on my support no matter what.
Kentucky Route Zero is probably my game of the year this year, so it's great to see someone on Giant Bomb finally give it the praise it deserves.
Loved the list, and as much as the semi-creepiness (in my opinion) of Bayonetta repels me, I might just have to check it out considering I just got a Wii U.
I think it's individual preference, even though I think it's a bit weird.
Since my older half-brother was mostly raised by my mother and a bit by my father (his stepfather), he'll call my mom "Mom", my dad "Eric", and his own dad "Bob".
I on the other hand call my mom "Mom" and my dad "Dad" - even though my dad was around for my life about as long as Bob was for my brother's.
My mom and brother also refer to my dad as "Dad" when talking to me, but "Eric" when talking to each other.
Now that I think about it maybe I'm the weird one.
Bought Endless Legend yesterday because 4X games make me weak in the knees - I can confirm that it's a really good one of those if that's what you're into. I also bought Remember Me and the Far Cry package today because Far Cry 2 is secretly the best game in that series.
Life is Feudal seems right up my alley in a Mount & Blade kind of way but it's in early access and the reviews seem pretty negative. Has anyone played it who can or cannot recommend it?
Drew's best moment has to be, with Dave as his flight controller, landing a burning neon A10-C Warthog while a full house of Alexis, Mary, Ian and the Oestreicher's watches on in amazement.
And he did it all #forthekids or #forthemoms or #forthemoney (depending on who you ask)
"Best" moment has to go to Alex and Vinny's attempt to build a PC. (Spoiler: The PC wins)
Honorable mention goes to the few times Ty Root is seen on camera, because goddamn that man is the best.
I just finished this game after leaving it in my backlog for most of the year, and it was friggin excellent. Personally I liked it more than Bastion, which is crazy because I loved Bastion. And in my opinion anyone who says Bastion's story is better is out of their goddamn mind. Transistor tells a story of love and loss in an extremely elegant way, and the way it requires you to experiment with your functions in order to get the full backstory (which isn't necessary but certainly helps) is a stroke of genius. The death penalty never feels too harsh, (I think I only full-on died in one of the trial rooms) and limiting the functions you're most invested in was a fantastic way to make you adapt your play style - I ended up using so many configurations of functions that I normally wouldn't have if the game hadn't forced me to.
So I think the tepid sentiment I'm seeing in this thread is due to part rose-coloured glasses in regards to Bastion and part a dissatisfaction with the story for not being completely clear at first blush - both of which I completely understand, but do not necessarily agree with.
