Maybe I've played too many big RPGs lately, but this game looks exhausting.

heh, at 56:07 Drew thinks Snake is gonna feel up Quiet when he's just picking her up. Drew you dirty, dirty man :)

He's obviously poo-pooing the camera angle. I'm sure he's heard some of the controversy about her leading up to this game. The treatment of Quiet in this game is pretty blatant objectification especially if you increase the bond level. IOW Kojima is definitely the dirty man in this scenario.

Ugh, I nearly broke my controller at some points, and I'm not really the sort to get really worked up about cultural representations of women at all.

The real sad part is that Quiet could have been an excellent character --- in fact, creepy authorial intentions aside, she's one of the cooler MGS characters, an incredibly good partner for the game, and a relatively strong female character for the medium. Sadly, all that is overshadowed by the camera angles, the stupid flirting thing she does in the ACC, and the ridiculous choice of outfit (Yes I am 100% aware of the fictional reason for it. There is also no reason Diamond Dogs's magical R&D dept couldn't have developed a breathable micro-fibre set of fatigues, like you can choose to develop for her later --- that outfit looks great, isn't gross, and makes the stupid camera stuff stick out like a sore thumb).

At the current exchange rate, $350 USD is over $450 Canadian. Normally, I bitch about price gouging compared to American products because it is a real problem that negatively impacts low and middle income Canadians. However, at $430 CDN, Canadians are paying around $330 USD for a PS4 and a game. That's pretty reasonable if one considers that games in Canada are now $80 [barfs uncontrollably] and also that many other products would have remained at 450, or increased to 500, had there been no price cut.

Having said that, I didn't suddenly start earning 20% more since the dollar began to tank hard this year, so... here's hoping the price of oil increases again, soon?

@dprotp: Anyone think that the anime lady in those 2 posters is an idolized Paz?

It is. The stand of on the vertical idol poster says "Angel of Peace"

Drew keeps making these missions too hard for him by constantly starting at 0600. It's really painful to watch, because he's actually being pretty careful and getting better at stealth. He'd probably not set off nearly as many alarms if he just started at 1800.

I hope they don't get tied up with the idea of residuals, because their positions on stunt pay, transparency, and the like are very reasonable. I doubt publishers will budge on residuals, either because developers would be pissed or demand the same (or both).

Having said that, I would love to see voice actors and developers both earn a little extra when a game does super well and would love to see game devs organize to protect their own interests as these voice actors are doing. This sort of discussion about labour practices in the gaming industry is needed and incredibly healthy.

A rising tide lifts all ships, duders.

(Here's hoping they don't have to strike. I really don't want six months of shit voice acting in games).
