Dude I fucking love games.

In recent weeks I've discovered that I've never been more happy or excited about games.
I am so fucking tired of people being so pessimistic about games and the game's industry.
I am sick to death of insanely spoiled brats shitting on games that get lower than a 9 out of 10.
Finally I fucking can't stand assholes with entitlement complexes, people that think all DLC should be free because they cut it out of the main game.
I can't stand being lectured by spoiled brats that think the world should just hand them everything.
Dude New Mortal Kombat, infamous 2, rockband 3, high-res trophy filled dreamcast games, Plus tons more. it's not just this year, every year is the best year for games. I've just come off playing what I think are 3 of my new favorite games ever Red Dead, lost planet 2, and Alpha Protocol.  I think all three of those games are really really good equally and with zero irony.
Anyways I can't really explain it but I'm very happy with games these days.

There's been a lot of great games that've come out lately, it's true. It hasn't been entirely my season this last six months (my favorite company, Capcom, had a not-so-great season and I haven't been crazy about BioWare or Rockstar since the start of this generation) but there were STILL some games that I'm absolutely in love with, such as Super Mario Galaxy 2 and God of War III. Even Red Dead Redemption is a very enjoyable game, and there are many more I haven't picked up yet. I'm also surprised more people aren't playing Pokémon Heart Gold and Soul Silver, 'cause they are really well done remakes of two of the best handheld games ever made.

There's a lot to enjoy, and with Dead Rising 2, Halo Reach, and Rock Band 3 (OMG RB3 OMG) there's still a bunch to look forward to. There's a lot of games I'm sure are going to surprise me as well, and that's the beauty of it. Being a gamer is a hobby that never, ever seems to disappoint.

you three options 1. stop playing games                or2. relax and just have fun with the games              or 3. screw off  there you go "
I choose option 4: Go fuck yourself.

I mean, there have been some new games that I really like, its just that a lot of the games on the 360/PS3 have just been nothing but dull stuff in my eyes. I don't know, sure, there are some new titles around like Alpha Protocol and Grand Theft Horses, but most everything else is a remake or a sequel.

Added to the fact that I rarely play games for their stories, nothing looks too different from what I've already played.

But, E3 is around the corner, so I am hoping to see something creative and different.

I'm almost done with my first Alpha Protocol playthru & I gotta say, I was expecting
it to be a lot longer than it is!  I was hoping for an espionage RPG to hold
me over for the SUMMER, not a few weekends of casual play only.  Right now I'm
trying to think of the next game to play & I'm drawing a blank. Maybe I'll fuck
around with Star Trek Online for a bit after I'm done with AP.

Well yeah if you never play for the story or something like that, then your just playing mindless shooter #3 over and over again.
Hop off your high horse sequels are better versions of your favorite games from years past. Do you just watch the 1st episode of a TV show because the 2nd episode is just a sequel to the 1st episode.

I love this thread! It's nice to see people being enthusiastic/optimistic for a change.

That's wrong, I think. Episode 2 of a TV show is not a sequel to the first episode, it is a continuation of the same episode. In fact, most episodes are shot around the same time, making them one long ass episode cut down into tiny bits for weekly viewing.

I dunno. Since nothing really catches my eye I guess I'm going to have to shut up and finish any games I have lying around.

If your criteria for "good game" are "creative, new IP" and you don't like this generation of video game, you must've hated every single generation.

Gears of War, Mirror's Edge, Assassin's Creed, Shadow Complex, Valkyria Chronicles, inFamous, Bayonetta, Lost Planet, Braid, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Demon's Souls, Portal.

That's what I could come up with off the top of my head when limiting myself to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, and adhering to your extremely strict criteria. There's plenty more for those platforms, and if we include the Wii, the DS and the PSP... let's just say that there's a lot. If we then allow creative, inventive sequels and remakes... well, I think you get the idea.

I stopped playing games and started playing a game called life, its pretty awesome.

Seriously if you told me a year ago I would have little desire to play video games I would tell you you're crazy, but its true. I don't know why but ever since my xbox died in february I just don't feel like playing games.

Out of that list, Mirror's Edge (minus the cartoon cutscenes), Demon's Souls, Portal, and Bayonetta are the most interesting. (havn't played Valkyria Chronicles).

I popped in my friend's Arkham Asylum and was kind of bummed that I had to go through this seven hour walking intro just to get to the first goons to beat up.

But besides that, all those games are not new.
